Hey guys and gals,

As I sit here at 5:30am my time, still not sleeping... I thought I'd share my progress on quitting analogs.

I have really enjoyed my experience vaping and it has definitely been much easier to avoid analogs than it ever has been with the patch/lozenge/gum/cold turkey etc. I can honestly say I enjoy it more than smoking and I am really grateful I found a great site with helpful and knowledgeable people to help me along the way.

That being said, I am certainly still struggling with the internal changes my body is going through without analogs. It is a strange sensation as it is completely different from any other time I attempted to quit before. For the most part I am not having any particular craving, which I believe means that I am getting a decent nicotine fix from the vaping. However, I am certainly a little restless and have that anxious and uneasy feeling coursing through me most of the day.

I love all of the changes I have already seen by making this lifestyle choice. But, for the first time I am feeling the effects of my body having to ween itself off of the 4k other chemicals in analogs and not just the nicotine.

This feels like the beginning of the 3 day hurdle I often heard about when quitting smoking and even when I was able to get past that on other attempts it was always out of sheer misery and guilt that I prevailed (and usually not much longer after that point).

Though it is a little unnerving not sleeping, and some of the side effects are beginning to hit me a bit (please see side effect #34: posting rambling messages at 5:30am)...I am certain this time feels different and I am 99% certain I will be successful. I owe a lot of my confidence in this situation to the support and knowledge I got here @ ECF, and I will certainly need it in the coming few hours/days :).

Thanks for letting me vent out some withdrawals! Now back to vaping!

I don't know how typical it is, but I have only been sleeping between 5 and 7 hours a night since I quit the analogs completely(about a month ago) and I still feel great. admittedly, the first few nights that this happened I felt a little logy, but soon I got used to it and now I don't know what to do with the extra awake time. I wouldn't worry about it too much and keep on keeping on!

Being pretty new to vaping myself I know exactly the feelings you are describing. For me it took about a week before they subsided and my sleep pattern to normalize. I just chalked it up to being just under the threshold of my usual nicotine levels, but now that I think about it you are probably right. It was all those other chemicals I was weaning off of.

Stay the course, it gets much much easier.

I appreciate it, Addis! It did occur to me that this extra energy could also be partially caused by not inhaling all of the gunk and CO from analogs and hopefully that is the case. I have never been a huge sleeper to begin with so I think my body is already a little sensitive to things that effect my sleep patterns to begin with.

Like you said...keep on keeping on. It's almost time to throw in the towel on sleeping and go brew some coffee anyway...it was worse at 3am when I was still trying to sleep :p

Thanks again for the encouragement!
