I just received my 4nine clone. The only problem I'm having with it is that the button keeps getting warm and eventually hot if I hit it more than twice in a short period. I've cleaned the contacts and have checked for anything that might cause a short in my build and have yet to find what the cause of this might be. Does anyone with an authentic 4nine or 4nine clone have the same problem?

I have a clone, no heat from my button. If it hits fine and you get that heat only at button then your build is probably fine, as a short should heat the entire battery(dangerously). Have you tried cleaning up the sides of the fire button as well? Did you check your build with an ohm meter? Id highly consider contacting the vendor if everything checks out but its not firing right.

As far as the clone goes, with mine im loving it(i got it from Vaportek). I dont have any full copper mods to compare but i have full brass and ss/mixed. It definitely hits harder, and the size? Well with an 18650 its smaller than any of my mechs in 18500 even. Check it out next to an Evic, both in 18650 mode. The 4nine has my Aqua with PMMA tank compared to Evic with no topper

I don't have a 4nine ... yet, but I am curious as to where you picked up your clone, and if you know who makes it? I have seen a few reviews for the authentic, but very little feedback on the clones.

I got it from illvapes, which is carrying the model by infinite which seems to be a 1:1 clone as far as i can tell.

Is your clone the infinite version? I have cleaned everything for the most part and i will try again but i doubt it will change anything. Yes i use an ohm reader to double check all of my builds. This current build is a dual micro coil reading at .4 ohms. I'm using en efest 35a battery.

could you be getting a big voltage drop that is dropping things down below what your battery can take? .4 ohms is pretty low to start with add in a big voltage drop and that could be nailing ya.

The battery i'm using is supposedly rated at 35a and i have used it in other mods with the same resistance and have not gotten a hot button. Plus i would think that the hybrid connection would help reduce the voltage drop.

Ya know what I have not run the numbers but I would think if you got a pretty good voltage drop it might well be pushing the limits of the battery. Just trying to help brainstorm ideas.

It's probable, but highly unlikely since I see plenty of other individuals using 30a batteries to power coils of a lower resistance without a problem.

Take this info for what its worth. Efest is a company who in my research has sometimes exaggerated the specifications of their batteries.

Take for instance your purple Efest 2500mah 35 amp battery. An independent tester has stated that this battery is in fact a re-wrapped LG18650HE2 20 amp battery. Quoting Dampfakkus

This is a rebranded LG 18650HE2 cell. Careful: max continuous discharge rate for this cell is 20A *NOT* 35A as advertised by Efest. According to LGs spec sheet 35A is only permissible for short periods not to exceed 75 seconds.

The purple Efest 2100mah 30 amp battery is a re-wrapped Sony cell. Tear off the Efest wrapper and you will find a Sony US18650VTC4 2100mah battery. Again quoting Dampfakkus

I am very sure this is infact simply a rebranded Sony US18650VTC4 cell.

Among other reasons, I don't often recommend Efest batteries when there are better alternatives available. Efest is confusing the pulse rate with the max continuous discharge rate with your batteries, giving you and other owners a false sense of security. I don't like that, do you?

After cleaning it for the second time i found that there was an extra magnet attached to the button. The hot button issue went away after i removed it. Anyone with the infinite version of the clone should do the same.

I got the infinite version in copper and SS, I didn't have any problems with hot switches but it wasn't firing, found the magnet stacked on the switch and removed, all good since then, absolutely loving this mod, finish is awesome.

I received my 4nine (love it) ... First thing is make sure that you are using a top device that has a 510 pin that extends at least 1mm (min) beyond the 510 threads. This is a must, not a negotiable. Do not use any RDA or RBA that has a flush 510 connection pin as it will short out.

Also, its sounds like you are using a flat top battery with the 4nine which is not recommended. This mech was intended to be used with nipple top batteries, not flat tops which can cause a short. There are some people who are ignoring this recommendation, but I would not do that.

I am not having any issues at all with my 4nine, it vapes just fine, no shorts, no hot buttons ...

I haven't heard of this on my friends authentic 4nine, but I can say I thought I felt heat on the bottom of my Atomo clone a couple times. My build is fine at .7 ohms with the vtc5 and purple efest 35amp, both batteries have done it. I read the Gilles stayed with spring on some of the Atomo v2's because of reports of a hot fire button on authentics with a magnet switch. He later went to all magnets regardless.

I have used the same setup on my Atomo clones and a Nemesis clone (nemesis had spring button same batteries) and I only get the hot fire button on the Atomo.

I used a tobh which has a protruding 510 connection. The problem only lied in the extra magnet on the switch. I've been exclusively using flat tops with my 4nine and have had no problems. They work fine when the rba has a long 510 connection. I also have a flat top adapter for devices that have a flush 510 connection.
