I actually figured out what causes this with the Atomo. Since the button button is recessed and floats, your finger can become the ground sometimes on the Atomo, hence why Gilles stayed with a spring for a little while. It's nothing that would be a concern, but for some it can cause discomfort.

Your what becomes a ..............Huh?

If you are the ground the mod has worse issues than a Spring could fix.
No matter the switch position, bottom/side/recessed - Making Contact with Battery WHILE keeping contact with the main body of the mod is what makes a switch work.
Best switch in the world would be useless if it had no connection.

got my stainless copper clone yesterday and i love it. $15.58 one at FT. i had blazing hot button, tube, atty and it turned out to be the positive pin wasn't out enough. to test my atties, i use an ego to 510 adapter on top and screw my atty in. works great. hits harder than any mech i have used. absolutely love it.

eventually i'll get all my pins sorted out. original 510 atties are easy to pull the pin out. my russian not so much. waiting for an origen v2 to arrive and that will prob be my all day vape.

the copper contacts on the stainless one give a fast/powerful connection. smooth button too

i have a 4nine clone, think it's from asmart but not fully sure. the hot button is killing me. so much i never use it... i pulled it out again today and cleaned it all out, still no luck. i hate this POS. I can't get the switch battery out like how some of you said it's got two of them stacked and removing one fixed the issue.... mine dont move or pull out at all.

You mean Switch Magnet?
Show us a pic of your parts. May be something simple. There is very little to the actual switch setup and function.
Would also help to know what you are powering on top and at what load(ohms)

I'm going to have to say there may not be a simple fix to your hot button.

That clone's button is probably just a hair too small, and it is making irregular contact with the tube, the same issue the atomo has..I love both mods.

I can't think of anything you could wrap around the side of the switch to have it make better contact.

People talking about a Second Magnet - No tools needed. It is just stuck to the centered magnet.
You likely do NOT have that.

POST A PIC.

Yea, I think your right. I know people that had the original 4nine and had hot button issues as well. I just don't like the button design. I hate the mutant button design as well. The whole bouncy battery with a magnet stuck to it just doesn't feel right. I can get it set so there's no battery rattle at all, I still just don't like the design.

I've got the atomo v2 was well.... And your right, the button does get hot. Not with a kayfun around 0.8-1.0ohms, but if your rocking a dripper around 0.5 or under and you start to feel it.

Hot button in a 4Nine design is likely due to minimal button to Wall contact when pressed.
Looking at mine.
Copper button Contacting Copper battery side with imbedded magnet. (i.e. copper to copper) Copper contacting Battery minus end.
Atty center pin contacting Battery Plus. Brass Hybrid top contacting Main Body.

The Only possible weak area would be Machining Gap switch to body. A sideways press should confirm this be reducing Heat.

Oh, and mine works fine down to my limit so far of .48ohms. :)

I just got an Infinite 4nine clone. Is there some way to adjust it? I've got pretty bad battery rattle with a flat top, and with a button top the mod fires as soon as I screw on an atty (without pushing the switch). It also fired in my pocket accidentally, pretty scary, doesn't seem very travel friendly. This might be going up for sale. Love the size though...

Edit, had the magnets the wrong way (duh), works perfect now. Pretty sweet mod. Youtube is your friend...

What you use on top dictates what Battery you need to use, and always avoid an auto fire situation.
Also be aware, some 4Nines are actually 5Two mods - i.e. 52mm long(to long) compared to the original 49mm Mod. This adds more complication in achieving good fit.

You should likely use Flat tops and thin Magnet spacers to take up the slack. Spacers would go on the Switch side(negative) of the battery.

Once I got the magnets lined up the right way it solved my problem :)

However, with button top batteries (Orbtronic), it started firing as soon as it was fully screwed in without pushing the fire button. With an Efest button top, the throw was maybe a mm before it started firing, way too short to be safe (so maybe mine is actually on the shorter side?). With VTC5's I get the very slightest bit of rattle if I shake it and the throw is a bit long, but it's working fine for my purposes. In fact, this is my new favorite mod, it's really nice, super low profile, great button. My only complaint with is sometimes it doesn't fire. Usually adjusting to push right in the middle of the button gets it going, but this is a strange one as there is really nothing to the firing mechanism. Overall, superb however, and less than 20 bucks, unreal quality for that price.
