4th Attempt to quit.. failed! Ugh!

So I woke up this morning, telling myself I was not going to smoke a filthy analog!! And it was going well, even though I basically vaped through out the entire day! I went out, ate a big meal, had a couple beers, and came home to relax... and then I felt the worst urge to smoke an analog! :(

I dont know what it could be! I am a 15-20 a day smoker and I usually vape 11mg True menthol from puresmoker.(Mmmmm that stuff is delicious haha) but I still can't make it through out the entire day!

Now I know e-cigs are not a quitting tool, but I would like to convert over completely, but find myself struggling as the day carries on..

I ordered 24mg True menthol to see if that helps with the urge but not sure if I may be also putting myself in danger?

Any input?

Thanks in advance guys

You have to make the decision, but what I do when I start craving is vape my brains out and think about just how nasty an analog is going to taste, how I'm going to smell like crap, and all that sort of stuff.

I do still slip once in a while, though, as well. It doesn't help that there is a shop down the street from me that will sell single cigarettes, either.

Douknowme--We all have trigger point moments--things that do that we always have had a smoke doing. I have not smoked an analog for 6 months now put still keep coming across thes trigger point moments--like coming out of a non-smoking building or the movies--it can hit you anytime and the best remedy is to vape like mad--the urge gets less as time goes by. You need to vape a hell of a lot more then you ever smoked to get of the analogs--Good Luck--we are routing for you--Sun

Yea thats what I thought.. At times when I don't have some place I have to be at a specific time, I usually smoke 2 or 3 back to back.. yes reallllyyyy bad! So I believe the 24mg nic will be a good thing. I just now have to wait for my shipment from Puresmoker. I am curious why I should switch from Menthol to regular juice? I think that may be worse :-\ I guess I think by vaping menthol I can trick myself into thinking they are menthol analogs, which is what I smoke. Newports..

oh my, selling single smokes. that would be hard to combat. although before smoking e-cigs i rolled my own, and i still have tobacco and tubes. now i'm thinking perhaps i'll have one. moving on from this thread before i lite up.
Georgini,
You just made me realize that I will still have my unopened 15 oz. bag of long-cut shag, full box of tubes, and injector laying around.
Maybe I should toss them...or just in case...arrrrgh!!!

Do try to keep at the 11 mg as base-strength, much better... But when you get in the 24, I would mix a bit of that with just as much 11 mg (result 17 mg) and first try that to see if you can get through your hard moments.
If that isn't enough, then take the 24 at the hard moments... but only then; go back to your base when you feel fulfilled again. This way will make it much easier to go lower further on down the line (if you wish to) and even if you don't you will be in a much safer range, i.m.o. - plus I think you will be getting better hits that way, if and when you do use the higher one.
Have fun, hope you find a good solution! :)

Honestly, you didn't become addicted to the analogs overnight. Give it time. It takes 3 weeks to break an old habit and it takes 3 weeks to develop new ones (Read that somewhere....Google it if you need verification. I won't swear it's 100% accurate.);)

It took me a little over 4 months to get rid of the analogs completely. But everyday I smoked less and less of them and I still reaped the benefits of cutting down.

Relax.

Happy Vaping!

I went straight for the 36 mg because I figured that I would need it because I am so addicted to smoking....and was amazed the first day I switched completely to vaping......I didn't feel 'any' withdrawal symptoms at all. Now I am trying vaping low nic most of the time and giving myself a 36 mg hit if I find myself longing for a 'smoke'. I think it's true that if you still can't resist tobacco you have to play around with the nic strength you are using and find what works for you.

I smoked for 30 years a pack a day. I had the e-cig before I ran out of analogs but didn't try it yet. The day I ran out of analog was the day I started e-cigs and havn't had an analog since. I may or may not have slipped up and smoked an analog here and there but you want to know why I didn't. BECAUSE I DON'T HAVE ANY! That's the key. Smoke them all or throw them away and DON'T BUY ANY MORE. I don't have as much as a .... left. I refuse to buy any either. This is how I've made it this far and I'm happy.

Zebra,

I know exactly how you feel (I just started yesterday). This system does have a learning curve and it's easy to get frustrated with all the little mistakes (especially getting a mouthful of fluid 8-o) and comparatively high maintenance but all I know is that I have only had one analog (compared to two packs a day) and actually prefer the taste of the ecig! :D
I think you have made the right decision if you will give it a chance, like I'm going to do. Good luck to both of us!

Note: Being a heavy smoker, I ordered the super high strength fluid (36 mg) from Totally Wicked.com and am glad I did. I don't think I would be successful right now with a lower strength. You will hear some scary stuff about "nicotine poisoning" here and it is probably valid, but without going crazy with it it has kept my cravings at bay and I have suffered no ill effects (except for a head buzz like when I first started smoking which is actually quite pleasing). ;)

Good luck again with our new adventure. :)
