Hi all :)

This is day 4 of no smokes for me and I just can't believe how easy this is !!!
I truly am amazed. I tried everything out there in order to quit and nothing worked.
I never tried champix though because I had a terrible reaction to zyban. Anyway, I just wanted to say that this just rocks!!

How long was it before you guys noticed a change in your taste buds and lung capacity and such?

congrats!
It is coming up to the 8 month mark for me
Everything was gradual for me. A month for the sense of smell and 2 months for the taste buds to be fully restored. My lungs took longer. Somewhere around the 5 - 6 month mark I noticed that I felt a lot better breathing. That might have been sooner, just that I didn't notice it until then because I started exercising harder.

I have to add that everyday when I brush my teeth I am so happy at how clean they feel again. No more ashtray mouth.

Congrats whyper. Myself the only analog I had was on day 1. After vaping for 4 hours I wanted to see what an analog would taste like- 2 puffs and I put it out as I discovered I enjoy vaping more. Not a single analog since and no yearning for one either.
Lung capacity, no noticeable affect yet. One year ago I had a sinus operation that removed all my sense of taste/ smell. Surgeon said they may never return. 4 days ago I am beginning to get "whiffs" of taste and smell. Remember to drink water/ stay hydrated as I read here at ECF vaping will dehydrate and can lead to a loss of taste.
Happy Vaping, Vapoor.

Oh Canada
Congrats whyper !! I have just about a month in now of no analogs and I can breathe a lot easier and hardly have to use my asthma inhaler at all now. Like you I tried zyban and it seemed to work for a bit, same deal with champix. I find E-cigs are funny in that I know I've quit smoking but in using an e-cig I dont have that feeling like I've given something up like I did when I quit in the past. It's liek Ive given up the bad part of smoking but can still enjoy the "act" of smoking - the hand to mouth action. Cheers! And good luck!

Congrats! I'm approaching 2 weeks, and it was surprisingly easy for me to quit as well. To speak the cliche, I did try 2 analogs since quitting, one after 3 days, one after 8 days, and the 8 day one tasted quite disgusting.

Changes I noticed so far
- after 3, 4 days, no more ugly brown "film" on my mouth / tongue in the morning (that's tar buildup - ewwww) when I brush / rinse with mouthwash.
- after 4 days, noticed my capacity to inhale from my Bloog system was thru the roof - when I started, I could barely "pull" on the bloog for more than 2 or 3 seconds - but after 4 days, I could hit the bloog's 5 second limit no problems (and find it annoying now)
- after 7 days, my sinuses are a lot clearer, especially at night when going to bed.
- after 7 days, noticed my sense of smell has improved quite a bit
- after 7 days, I notice I can smell a smoker / smoking a mile away (okay, not a mile...) something I actually haven't noticed before - if I'm within 5 feet of a smoker, (even when they are not smoking) I can tell; and if someone is smoking, I can smell it from as much as a half-block away.
- after 10 days, noticed my sense of taste is improving quite a bit.
- after 12 days, noticing my internal lung capacity has improved quite a bit (this is different from inhaling into your mouth, re my second point in this list).
- after 12 days, noticing my sleep has improved quite a bit*

*One bit of advice - get your e-juices in different nic levels; Nic gives a big part of the throat hit, plus it has nic, so you want that when quitting; however, it's easy to load up on lots of nic before going to bed, and it will keep you awake like caffeine. Plus you may want to wean off nic over time to get rid of that addiction.

I suggest 24mg for your vaping during the day; consider getting 18 or 12mg for evening, and 6mg or 0mg for using a few hours before bed. You can always mix a 0mg juice with a 24mg juice to get a 12mg mix (so don't have to buy a juice in 4 or 5 different strengths - just get 24mg and 0mg if you want to go cheap)

Mark
PS - my favourite e-juice so far is the GR Rugged Blend with Menthol added, from Gentlemen's Reserve, 25mg. Good sweet tobacco and a nice hit of menthol, not overbearing. Sweet.

Congrats! I can't believe how easy it was either! Im on day 29 with my Bloog and LOVE it! I have bought a ton of juice from many different Canadian suppliers and it took a lot of trial and error (not so cost effective, but I found my faves already) and have already converted 6 'burners' to 'vapors'! We have all come to the conclusion that what really worked was getting together and trying all the different flavours and mixes. What one person liked, someone didn't - but as mentioned several times in this forum...is to let the juice steep for a few days and you will find it may taste different (for better or worse). 2 of my converts had no intention of quitting smoking...ever! And they are now 'those' kind of ex-smokers...lol...the born-again types to put it midly ;) Overall, in just a short month of quitting smoking, I feel great, my taste buds are a bit slower to catch up - but I can sure tell you when someone walks past me that just had a cigarette...so the nose works great LOL!

Congratulations whyper and to everyone that's chimed in on this thread. It's nice to see this kind of support in an online forum.

I'm coming up on my 2nd week without smoking and I couldn't be happier. After 20+ years of smoking I'm free of the damm things.

I'm starting to notice my sense of smell improving along with my sense of taste. It's not a vast improvement yet but I am noticing more subtitles and complex flavors in food and especially in the craft beers I enjoy. That's a major bonus as far as I'm concerned :toast:

The "unfortunate" side effect of this is that I'm drinking more beer now. I'll have to come to terms with that at some point.

Keep it up and again congratulations!

Maybe you should increase the nic content? I found that if I vaped 12mg it wasn't enough and I wanted to smoke. I upped it to 18 and have had no problems at all!

Way to go!

I'm 3-4 weeks into vaping and still have 5-6 analogs everyday. Can't find a juice that I love yet unfortunately.

I had the same thing happen to me! On the 2nd day of having the new bloog before I totally committed to no more smokes (day 6 for me now!) I tried an analog and put it out after 2 puffs too! It tasted like crap! I am totally enjoying vaping. The flavours, the hunt for flavours, the accessories. I fear I will be spending more on this than I did on smoking LOL
:D

Good going on getting whiffs of taste and smell ! That is fantastic!!!

I smoked for 17 years yikes I'm only 33! Nice thing is I'm getting sick right now and when I smoked analogs this is the kind of thing that would knock me out, 2-3 times a year hit my chest have me coughing for a week or two. However I find that it's staying in my throat instead of before when it would always go to the lungs. Waiting to see how I fair out over the next couple days. First time in over a year I've had this bug since I quit smoking.

Getting sick sucks! I found that vaping while having a throat/ lung infection was even more painful than smoking while sick :( but that being said, I sure don't get sick as often though.
