So you started smoking about the same time I did. I hope I haven't messed myself up permanently after all those years. Sheesh. Keep us posted on how that cold progresses. For the past 10+ yrs I never got colds per say. I'd get the feeling I might be getting one and then bammo, right to the sinuses. When I say I was on antibiotics every month I'm not exagerating. Somewhere around here is a link about PG being antibacterial plus another link about it being used (yrs ago) to keep air germ free in schools as an experiment. It worked! Interesting stuff. You'd think hospitals would use it for their poor air quality

I smoked for 17 years yikes I'm only 33! Nice thing is I'm getting sick right now and when I smoked analogs this is the kind of thing that would knock me out, 2-3 times a year hit my chest have me coughing for a week or two. However I find that it's staying in my throat instead of before when it would always go to the lungs. Waiting to see how I fair out over the next couple days. First time in over a year I've had this bug since I quit smoking.

Now that is interesting!!!
I don't think this has to do with just quitting smoking. I think the PG has something to do with it as well

The last cold I remember was back in Nov 2009. Is that significant? Perhaps. OTOH I only had the odd one per year and none since I have started vaping.

I have gotten a wicked chest infection/bronchitis every fall and spring every year since I can remember sometimes one for Christmas too. This spring I didn't get it and I think I'm already coming out of this as just a small cold didn't go anywhere near my lungs. I have been surrounded by sick kids and GF so I knew I was doomed but the major change is in how sick I've gotten as opposed to analogs. I was guaranteed to make lung cheese 2-3X a year before and I haven't yet since I started vaping :) But noize is right vaping has a little more of a bit to it right now. Sure nice on day 3 feeling better all ready opposed to going to get meds from the doc.

It is a month for me now of not smoking reg. cigarettes. Feels like a world away. Thank you so much who ever invented e cigs. I make my own e juice with no nicotine in it. 3 wks. into being smoke free I could taste everything, blew me away. No more stink on me, no more disgusting ashtrays, and one month now and I have saved $350.00 dollars I would have spent on cigarettes! I feel like a new person. I smoked for 22 years and tried everyway to quit. Who would have none e cigs would do it.
My lungs, well I noticed a big difference after one week. Feels so good to take a deep breath and feel your lungs fill up. With smoking, you don't feel this. I feel so much better, I can't believe it. After 2 weeks is when I could really smell things
again. It felt like I was smelling a whole new world, so amazing.(hope that doesn't sound too corny!)

I am so proud of myself and I am so proud of you!!!
I don't know where you are at with you withdrawls, just wanted to let you know ignore all the tricks your mind plays on you in the first 2 weeks, is just your mind adapting to not smoking.

Wow, I have to say, congrats to all of you. I too smoked for 15 years, a kind co-worker / friend said, here take this (ego batt /w 510 atty, and 5ml bottle of juice) and try it over the weekend. I reluctantly said OK, but I know it's not going to work... stupid E-Cigs... Well saturday night, the batt was dead, and I was an entire day without a cig or craving.... hmmmm, this isn't so bad afterall. Oh crap... the batteries dead... I don't have his number... and I don't have a charger.... let's just say I couldn't wait to go back to work on Monday and see him. I put an order in next day, he hooked me up with a spare charger, and the rest is history.

I haven't had an analog since Dec 17th, 2010, and will never go back. I've "quit" smoking, or should say stopped smoking, in the past using various differnt methods. I can say, that no matter what, I will NEVER smoke again. After regaining smell, taste, sleep, and just feeling better, the draw of cigs is gone. I'm a proud vaper, and have helped probably 50 - 60 people get off analogs. I will continue paying forward, and the best part is when I decide to put down my PV, I won't feel guilty if I have a bad day, and pick it up for a vape or two, or three for that matter. :)

Gratz! Just shy of a year here. I didn't really notice a huge change, but maybe it just happened.

I did notice I coughed up some really gross stuff for a few weeks after quiting analogues tho.

Also I can definitely attest now that yeah them folks weren't kidding analogues do smell gross and I'm sorry in hindsight I made my friends and family put up with it.

The "unfortunate" side effect of this is that I'm drinking more beer now. I'll have to come to terms with that at some point.

and i thought it was only me with this side effect...

I still love analogues. I haven't bought a pack in 6 months... but I do bum them from a coworker who quit smoking but still keeps a pack in her desk... haha.

Maybe I'm the odd man out, but I love the dirty, nasty taste of a smoke. Gimme a nice dirty bitter beer or coffee to go with it, and I'm in heaven... haha

Congrats to all who made it, but I'm with concat still having a couple a day. Maybe someday I can give them up but figure it still has to be better then the 2 packs a day I was smoking.

Hi all :)

This is day 4 of no smokes for me and I just can't believe how easy this is !!!
I truly am amazed. I tried everything out there in order to quit and nothing worked.
I never tried champix though because I had a terrible reaction to zyban. Anyway, I just wanted to say that this just rocks!!

How long was it before you guys noticed a change in your taste buds and lung capacity and such?

TOBRIETY,,,ain't it great :)

6 months for me now. I am so happy I found this forum 6 months ago. Having all the support, info, and of course my
joye ego t e cigs made this possible. I had smoked for 22 yrs, tried every way to quit, no luck.
Found out about the e cigs, tried it, and made quiting smoking possible.
If I can quit smoking regular cigs, then I say anyone can do it, with the help of electronic cigarettes.

Congratulations to everyone else trying to or who have quit smoking. Give all yourselves a big hug for me.
I never thought in my wildest dreams I would be free from my prison of cigarettes.
No more do I reak of stink, my lungs, I can breath a full breath(no more asthma puffers), I can sing again, and best of all my multiple sclerosis feels a bit better, is more manageable.

I even don't use the electronic cigarettes anymore, so amazing to be. 6 months ago I was a pack a day smoker,
sometimes I can't believe it!! I did it!!!

I wonder if the person, persons who invented the e cigarette had any idea what I live saver it was
going to be. I wonder why the Canadian Government doesn't advertise the e cigarette as the number
one way to quit smoking. They could easily do it with no nicotine. I quit using no nicotine, wasn't hard
that hard at all.
Sorry for rambling....

Congrats on your freedom cat!

The good thing about being able to quit cigarettes and fully transition to vaping and eventually quit vaping is that you know if ever you fall off the wagon it'll be back to vaping instead of smoking - happened to me at the beginning of this year and the guilt only lasted a day :p

Love the image Phil! Why not keep this thread going, right? I noticed a change in my lung capacity (VO2max) after a week and a half. Even as a smoker I went to the gym regularly. I always do a warmup on the treadmill. It would usually take me about six minutes for my heart rate to hit 120 (which I figured was high enough to start hitting the weights). A week and a half after vaping, I was on the treadmill, looking out the window, when I realized that more time than usual had gone by, so I checked the time. 9 1/2 minutes! and my heart rate was still at 105! My lung capacity as well as my overall feeling of good health has only gotten better, and I wish the same good feeling to all of my vaping, (and soon to be vaping) friends. Vape on!

I think the secret is a combination of will and the right equipment :)

Get yourself a big eGo battery and some cartos, some unflavored 24mg juice (yeah that's right unflavored! :) ) and get cracking! One of the biggest hurdles when starting out seems to be finding a juice that you like enough to vape all day and stick to it long enough to make the switch. I say since cigarettes didn't have a distinct taste why should your juice? It'll also save you a ton of money on start-up costs, and once you've fully transitioned you can start trying out different types of juices

Lemme point to my signature...trying to crack'n already :p, i have two ego's (650mA) and atties and begginer juice from katmandu, got my own juice and ego pass through, had two 808's (OOPS!) with a couple of carts and a 510 cart from citylights, with sample juice....oddly enough what got to the two day mark was the flavors banana cream pie (shower tile tasted better), and butterscotch...tried the no flavor....(refer to said show tile wall LOL)
some people trip and stumble more then others, but then you get the hang of it and you are off and running
