BigBlue... what did you use to paint/color your box from Sassy? I love the color. Would like to color my Sassinator like that.

Thanks.

It was a 20 year old can of AMT model paint. If was from a pine-wood Derby car my son built 20 years ago. The top is long gone so I do not even know that the color was called.

bigblue, you're a bad influence on me. Just ordered 2 of those. I plan on trying to fit one in a mod. I was thinking about connecting first input to battery and second to regulator output, but when it displays total cell voltage it will show batt + regulator. still might be neat :D

Now to figure out the box, and what exact batteries.

Thanks again man. now stop coming up with good ideas so I stop spending money lol.

Did you get the 1S version? The 2S does not work for a single output voltage.

I tried to do the battery and output at the same time but it did not work. The voltages need to be in series with each other to work with this meter.

There are a few people that installed the meter in the mod already. To me it is just a little big for that, that is why I went external.

I would love to find a smaller LCD meter that would work, I am still looking.

Thanks for the tips!! I'm researching for some projects.....

These S1 meters say they may not display under 4.5v... what the lowest voltage anyone has gotten them to display?

Will they go down to 3.7v?

lowest i have seen so far is 3.8volts. That 4.5 is deceiving it says that about a pack. Since a s1 is single it really couldnt be called a S1 tester the max on a single battery is going to be 4.2 volts. Really it should read down to 3.2 volts when a S1 needs to be recharged.

This is my theory, this tester runs itself off the first cell of a pack. When they say a pack @ 4.5 i would divide that in half( 2 battery cells = a pack, 3 or higher cell packs would more then likey be ruined if the voltage got down to 4.5 ). So in theory it would power itself and read down to 2.25 volts being used as a tester for mods.
I am waiting on a price for 30 of these things from china let me know if your interest as there are all of two S1 testers on ebay without the buzzers. I think there is going to be a bidding war on the only two left.

BigBlue... Thanks for the tip about the S2's... I was looking at those too.

Yes, they will go below 3.7, Mine go down to 3.25 or 3.24

It's not like those are the only 2 units left in China but they are the only 2 on ebay at the moment and they'll prolly go in the low $20's with shipping unless two people just have to have them... I emailed the holder of the auction to see if they sold in quantities and at what price.... I'll report back if I hear from them. My projects are still in the conceptual stage anyway... lol

Thanks for the pictorial evidence guys!

Hey illuxion - love the work bench!!! Brings back fond memories.....

update: 2 more from the same seller on a 7 day auction.

Update 2: 1s-8s measures 1 cell... has a buzzer but can prolly be removed to save space. I think I'll risk the $5.49 and try one....

Already ahead of you, Introducing the pill fob load checker :)
I have to remove all the pins and ground a little off the side of the board and then I soldered the wires directly to the LED PCB. I then took a pill fob and milled the area I needed removed for the LED and filed the corners.
A quick drill at 1/4" on bottom and and a little soldering to the connecters and pressed both connectors in.
I opted for no side switch as I can always screw and unscrew the atty for load and unloaded test. I use a RS 4.5vdc 1600ma power supply, I suprised to see 4.7 unloaded and 3.9 loaded, that is a .8vdc drop.

Here is the walkthrough:
Dan

Looks nice, I think your low loaded voltage is from poor conductivity of the case.
