Im trying to make a .5 coil using 26g wire. I just started building about ago so im fairly new to all this. Ive worked with kanthal 26g 24g and 22g single and dual coils with a surprising amount of ease. But for some reason ive been struggling to arrive at the right resistances with the nichrome. It keeps coming out at a .6 all three times ive tried so far. It will read .52 after completion but after being pulsed it goes up to .6 and never drops after. Does it be have different than kanthal?

Dont build for target resistances on a regulated mod. It doesnt matter anyway.
Build in a way that the coil fits your airflow, chamber size and choosen power.

You´ll have it much easier if you don't restrict yourself to an exact resistance and gain nothing if you do.

As long as you´re not completely off (especially if you´re much lower then you calculated) there is nothing to worry about.

Nichrome, especially when building contact coils, goes up in resistance after dry firing. So no problem there.

Don't think too much about resistance. Sure, if you build too low, you might need more power to heat up the coil, build too high and your mod might not be able to provide you enough voltage for a pleasant vape.
My sweetspot is somewhere between 0.12 and 0.4. Quite a range for sure, but on a regulated device it doesn't matter, because I can adjust the wattage to get a good vaping experience with either of those builds.

Unless you are hating the vape, I would say a slight resistance change doesn't matter much. What brand of wire are you using, some are better than others, it could be your calculating software is slightly off, or perhaps your wire, IDK, or maybe the leg lengths are slightly longer or shorter than you calculated the to be.

But provided you like the vape, I'm not sure this is anything to worry about.
