UPDATE:

Well, the mailman came today, bearing a package for me. Could it be that my V4L order has finally arrived? Nope. It was a gift from my mom. Simpsons season eleven.

It was nice to get that gift, but I was terribly disappointed that my V4L order, which I placed exactly one month ago, still hasn't arrived. The 2-4 week shipping window has expired (last Friday), and now I'm genuinely worried, as my package is officially late, and has no tracking number. God only knows where it might be right now, or if I'll even receive it in the end.

It's a package worth hundreds of dollars.

This has not been a fun experience.

I guess there's no way to track it. Can you go to the V4L website and check when they sent it? It still sucks. There were no Mex holidays or mail strikes I guess (?). Maybe go to the vendor forum here at ECF and ask a question about shipping to Mex.

Yep; no way to track it. I do know that, according to the shipping confirmation email from V4L, it was sent out on the 15th of March (good mercy that was a long time ago!). There was one business day holiday that I can think of, and that was Good Friday. Still, the mailman came bearing no packages today, so the package is definitely late at this point.

:(:(:(

UPDATE:

Some good news and some bad news.

First the bad news: my V4L order (supposed to be 2-4 weeks shipping), which was shipped on March 15th, still hasn't arrived, and I fear the worst. It's reached the point where I'm now going to have to contact Steve, Val, or Mark to find out what can be done. I spent almost $300 on that order.:(:(:(:(:(:(:(:(:(:(:(

Now the good news: I broke my vaping cherry today, as my order from Litecig arrived.:) I ordered from them at a time when I was growing worried that my V4L order would never arrive, so I made sure to order a couple KR8 manual batts (in black and stainless steel), the PCC, and some cartos -- enough to at least start trying out this whole vaping thing -- just in case my V4L order didn't come through (turned out to be quite a prescient move on my part).

One thing I noticed is that the 15mL plastic dripper bottles I'd ordered weren't in the package. They must have been out of stock. I'll have to check my online bank account statement to see if I've already been refunded those $3.75.

Anyway; so far, so good. I've tried both prefilled cartos I ordered; RY4 16mg and cappuccino 16mg. RY4 tastes like a sweet, musky, men's cologne (which is a fairly unpleasant taste), and the cappuccino tastes yummy enough. The cap's pretty smooth, although it does have decent TH. Vapor production seems somewhat decent, although I am excited to mix the Rath VG and regular PG juices that came in my Litecig order to see if a 50/50 mix bumps up the vapor a bit more.

I also tried a Mint 15mg Greencig carto. According to what I've read here and seen on youtube, they're not supposed to work on manuals -- just the autos. But on my black manual, the Greencig carto worked if left barely screwed-on. It produces quite a minty punch in the throat, and more vapor than my KR8 cartos, though it didn't work at all when I tried connecting it to my steel batt.

My black batt seems to have no cut-off when it's at maximum charge, then "develops" maybe a seven-second cut-off once it weakens a bit. The steel batt, however, always has the same five-second cut-off (that's bizarre for a manual batt, right?), though I easily defeat it by simply releasing and quickly pressing again the activator button as I'm drawing vapor into my mouth.

I've had three analogs since I opened my package at 1:15 PM today (April 14th), and that's pretty respectable given the fact that I would normally smoke perhaps 11 cigarettes in that same time period (it's 11:00 PM right now). Anyway, none of those cigarettes were smoked out of desperation or anything, and I do think that I'll be able to quit smoking using my PVs (especially if my V4L stuff ever gets here).

Thanks for reading this long-winded post.

wow! let us know how folks in mexico react. from what i gather it's not quite legal. hope customs didn't grab one of your shipments.

So far, most folks here seems to think it's pretty neat. E-cigs are legal to purchase and use, but I believe they are illegal to sell (though this is Mexico we're talking about here, so many stores/vendors continue to sell them). Customs seems to have absolutely no problem with juices, syringes, cartos, chargers, batts and the like -- I've had four packages make it through customs with no problems (Johnson's Creek, LeCig, Litecig, and Dietsmokes) and they usually seem to spend just a few hours passing through the customs process.

By the way, back in 2001/2002 I used to work as a waiter at the TGI Friday's in Jack London Square.:)

UPDATE:

Well, I'm about to end my second day of vaping, and as I've ascended the learning curve, vapor production and enjoyment have both increased substantially. I have smoked two analogs today, but I want to less and less, and they're tasting nastier and nastier. I've even decided that the RY4 flavor isn't all that bad (though I probably won't order it again). I've also started to realize that, just like I've read (and heard on youtube), the Greencig cartos have next to no TH. They do produce a good amount of vapor, however, and I like not having to think about potentially burning polyfill. I'll start using them more once I get my V4L shorty auto batts...

...I think spending nearly a month on ECF devouring information has made me into some kind of hybrid newb -- one with a noobish amount of personal vaping experience, and a large amount of vicarious vaping experience. This has allowed me to avoid many pitfalls, and has eased my transition into vaperhood (do I get credit for having invented the term "vaperhood," or has it already been said?).

By the way, I emailed Litecig about my missing 15ml plastic dropper bottles asking what could be done, and they very quickly replied, saying that they would ship them out tomorrow morning! That's some impressive customer service, because we're talking about less than four dollars of merchandise! The international shipping alone will probably cost them more than the value of the bottles. Thanks Litecig!!!!!!!:D:D

In other news, today marked yet another day without any sign of my V4L order. I PM'd Steve at approximately noon today to let him know about my situation. I haven't received a response yet. Maybe I'll just email customer service through the website. The order was shipped out exactly one month ago today. My god, I want that order so bad...

What part of Mexico are you in? My Mother Ex-Patted to Merida, Yucatan, Mx. And for some weird reason, she's convinced she can't get mail down there.

I have her birthday present being FedEx'ed down there, as we speak to finally shut her up about it.

So, did your mom ever receive that FedEx package?

If so, did she finally admit that she can get mail in Merida?
