5 volt box mod

I see the mod kit 5 volt, comes with a circuit board. Is this absolutely required to build a 5volt box?

I have all the parts i need to get started on one, besides the circuit board.

It is indeed possible to build a 5 volt mod without the circuit board. I can't explain how to do it but here's a link that has a diagram and a brief explanation. Just scroll down until you find the the schematic.

Ok i dont understand the schematic...I'm very creative, but not tech savy *yet*.. All i'm kind of getting is i'd need one of these?
LDO 5 volt, 3.0 amp regulator with control pin! ...whats the difference between this item and LDO 5 volt, 5.0 amp regulator ? looks like i need to do more research and place another order. I'm really wanting to make my own bottom feeder 5 volt box, but am not having much luck in finding a tutorial on how to do it and what parts i'll need.

The guy that posted the schematic, asnider123, would know. He has a background in electronics and would be happy to answer any questions that you may have. I'm pretty sure that regulator will work but I would ask just to be sure.
