Disconnecting the LED from a 5v box mod

Just got a 5v box mod from mad vapes. Like the mod, but I don't like the changing LED. I'd like to disconnect it, and my hypothesis is that I just have to disconnect the 470 ohm resistor (How to Build a 5 Volt 510 Box Mod). Has anyone done this? Will I ruin the entire circuit by doing this?

I'm pretty sure that the LED is on an independent circuit. Unfortunately, you can't see what's going on because everything's hot glued into place but clipping the 470 Ohm resistor should do the trick. Hopefully someone else can confirm or deny this. I don't want to be responsible for ruining your mod.

I was looking at layout for the mini pcb and the LED is indeed on a separate circuit. The only problem might be getting to it under the hot glue. Just make sure that you cut the 470 Ohm (tan) resistor and not the 470k (blue). Good luck!!!

Thanks, Wolfstone. I assume Mad Vapes assembles their box mods in the same fashion as the instructions for the box mod kits. I'm going to wait until I get a firm answer before I tamper with the thing. But seriously, that light is too much. If it were one color, I wouldn't mind. It has to go.

Black nail polish does the trick on too bright multicolored LEDs that drive a man crazy... no snipping required.

That's a good idea, Six. However, I went with the white version. When you cover the light, you can still see the disco taking place inside the box.
