Something I've noticed is that many consider 5 volts to be that "magic spot" in vaping. This is where you get the best vapor without burning out your flavor. I currently have a couple 6v mods and they do indeed burn out flavors and really burn out weak flavors like watermelon. I also have several 3.7 devices and used with LR attys or cartos perform pretty decent too.

Now, my point. I also have a 5v passthrough and I have to admit, everything still seems to taste/vape better through this than either the low voltage/low resist combo or high voltage. I have to wonder, if 5v is the ideal spot why has no one released a 5v battery? VV would obviously put you there but many will agree while the tech is cool, the price is not. I'm guessing the issue would be in the costs of manufacturing custom batteries @ 5v or 2.5v to be stacked?

ElectronicStix sells a custom 4.8-volt 400mAh battery. It's actually four 1.2V 100mA nimh cells in series, encased in light lime green plastic with end caps. Designed for the Mako Maksi, but the battery works with any mod that takes a 3.7V 18650 battery---Silver Bullet, Omega, Maxi RoughStack, Chameleon, Bombshell, Phidias/Ali wooden bottom feeders, etc.

You need a special charger for these batteries, which ElectronicStix sells also. They don't have a great run time (since they're only 400mAh), but the batteries are well manufactured and work very nicely. I use them with my two Phids. Freshly charged, they're about 5.2V, but they settle down to their rated 4.8V fairly quickly.

They're the same length (65mm) as an 18650, but rather than being 18mm in diameter, they're only 14mm. I made some cardboard tubes to fit around them, increasing their diameter, so they don't rattle around in my Phids.

And yes, they do provide a very nice sweet spot. Perhaps because they are not mega-powerful (compared to an 18650 2400mAh), I have no trouble running 2.0-ohm LR atties and cartos with them. That works out to be about 11 watts, but it's a very "gentle" 11 watts. I wouldn't go down to 1.5 ohms, though, for fear of blowing the atty's coil.
