510-510 adapter and drip shield for SB

I just ordered a Silver Bullet, looking forward to it!

I prefer to drip onto Joye 510 LR atties, and it seems that a 510-510 connector and drip shield may be advisable. Any recommendations of what to get in particular?

Just placed an order right now on Empire mods, got the 510-510 sealed adapter, extra o-rings and a few drip shields. Empire seems to be a solid choice for drip shields from what I've read.

I second the thumbs up for Empire mods, unique and well make shiny bits. I have one and also got my adapter there. I also find that if I want to dress up a plain old cartomizer, the shields fit well too

I have to agree. Empire drip shields are the best quality ones I've seen (not to mention they're the original). Be careful not to over tighten with adapters though.

I guess I've been using tanks for too long. What is the purpose of putting on a 510-510 adapter? The connectors on my Silver Bullet's are sealed. Is it just for looks?

I'm a die-hard tanker myself. The drip shields are actually designed for 901 atomizers. The 510-510 adapter to use a drip shield is to give it a little height so that you can push the shield down. I really wish there were straight up 510 drip shields available, because adapters have been shown to cause a lot of issues with devices. But for now, it's a 901 design, so people use an adapter to make do with what's out there.

Well technically if you had a raised connection you could just use the shield from what I understand. The purpose of the adapter is to give the connection height so you can securely slide down the drip shield. If used on a non raised connection, like my silver bullet, the shield wouldn't cover the bottom of the atomizer where the air holes are and the liquid wouldn't be contained in the o-ring seal as intended.

I didn't understand the use for the adapter also so for other vapers that stumble on this page with the same question this page really clarified the reasoning for the 510-510 adapter!

i use 510 adapters on my SB and REO, because i change tanks and atomisers and flavors a lot = short attention span and do not want to mess up the threads on the device. A 510-510 adapter is a few $, but sending a device for repair is rather more. Just dont tighten the hell out of them is all!
