I got my 510 today from Cignot (who was very nice!). I plugged in my USB PT, then blew out the atty really well onto a paper towel while that charged for a bit. I gave it about 20 mins. Screwed it on semi tight, which is what I read here. Put a couple drops on the atty and used the mouthpiece that came on it. Not too much of that bad taste I read about, but I was not too fond of the flavor (tobacco). So I put on one of the carts that came with it and let it set a minute to wick a bit. Did about 5-6 puffs until some good vapor came out, then let the atty cool a little. Then I started doing a few slow drags into the mouth before inhale. Good lord there was some throat kick, even without too much vapor. Seems like a shorter drag hits the top of the throat, while a longer drag hits down near the base of the neck. I also have found that even with the manual battery, a quick puff then drag gets a lot more vapor. I'm interested to see how this does after a day or two of break in! :p

I'm not so hot on the tobacco or marl flavors so far, but may be the new atty. Think I'll try out a watermelon or something. :)

Oh yeal, don't forget to line your cartridge up with the atomizer. In case you don't what that is........pull the cartridge off, if you can't see the bottom of the atomizer well get a flashlight. Down at the bottom you will find a white colored insulator. There is one on the opposite side to.

Now, look at the bottom of your cartridge. It looks like 0 instead of O. You want the top and the bottom of 0 to go over those two white insulators. This will keep the top of the atty (bridge) from rubbing against the sides of the cartridge.

With the manual battery, you don't have to take a short puff to heat up the atty. Just hold the button down for 1/2 to 1 second before starting to draw. Got my daughter a 510 from cignot and she complained the juice in the pre-filled carts was too strong for her. Gave her a fresh blank cart and loaded it with cappachino that I had also ordered for her and she was fine, even tho it was also 24 mg juice.

Well, I just did a straw mod with one of my carts. It seems a bit better, but the vapor production is not like I see people in the review videos even with the prefilled carts. I wonder if I'm doing something wrong. I dripped a few drops all last night and tried the carts today. Any thoughts?

I should add that I don't get that bubbling sound all that often. Dry atty?

Give those attys a few days to break in...and remember to take nice long, slow draws on your cig...you'll get some big fog effects down the line. :)

If it's bubbling it's probably a bit flooded, I just flick it like a thermometer when that happens (from the battery end).

.

Hi, I am new to e-cigs and of need of your infinite wisdom. I am using the 510 manual e-cig. How long can I safely (battery life) press the manual button in order to get a long draw?

LOL, move along folks, no infinite wisdom to see here! :D

I don't take super massive tokes, I generally press the button for about a second before drawing on it (to get some heat and vapour going) and hold for as long as I want (about 5 or 6 seconds usually).

I find these things work better if you give them a few seconds to cool down in between tokes....once broken in, they produce more vapour without having to run the atty for so long.

If you hear gurgling, it's a little overjuiced. Take 2 or 3 quick puffs without holding the button down, then when you puff while holding the button, it won't gurgle as much and you should get good vapor.

Have you seen the pyramid tea bag mod? It makes a great filler which can be rinsed and reused. Also look at the straw mod. You'll probably find these in the DIY (do it yourself) section under the General Discussion section.

Keep the filler topped off and take long slow drags (about 6 seconds). That most always gives me great vapor, and try plain Mint flavor for a great throat hit. Good luck!

Take your atty off for a minute and try blowing it out. You can have a flooded atty without getting any gurgling.. and it will run hot. If you try the blow and get nothing, then you were liquid starved. If you get liquid out... then you were probably flooded and didn't know it.

It's really easy to flood an atty with the straw mod....

Thanks everyone. Those tips seem to be working. I have one straw mod cart, but I think I did it wrong. I'll try again tomorrow. I looked at store for the ptbs but didn't find any today. I probably just missed it.

On the straw mod - this is how I do it and it works well. I use Johnson and Johnson 'safety swabs' qtips - I found other things to small or too large. Cut the shaft 11/16ths and that puts it just below the top of the cart. I use the top of the shaft that has the notches that helps hold the filler. and cut the bottom at a diagonal as in the instructions aiming it in. The straw goes along the rounded wall of the cart - furthest away from the atomizer bridge.

Also cut a smaller diagonal on the top just to keep it off a bridge that might be a bit high or off center. Cut the bottom of the filler as in the instructions. Then 'tuck' the filler around the sides of the straw to keep it in the cart better - a stray wire from the metal mesh on the bridge can grab a strand occasionally. I also push the filler down in the cart a bit. When filling I hold at about a 30degree angle with the straw on top away from me and top off getting 6-8 drops, put two drops on the atty, put 4 more drops in the cart waiting for the bubbles coming out of the straw to pop, sometimes popping them with the bottle tip :) and then add two drops of ecopure rich on top and let it sink in. No bubbled top - just moist to where you can still see some of the filler above the juice.

After a few weeks, take out the filler and soak it in 151, dry completely and pull apart until fluffy get the straw and reinsert. After a month and a half I ditch the filler and grab some more.

Scottbee and Kent C, awesome tips. I'll blow out the atty tomorrow (when I'm less tired) and I give that qtip method a try. The stir straws seem a bit narrow for the desired effect.

thewomenfolk, my favorite so far has been the menthol. I like cinnamon to, but the menthol definitely has a stronger throat hit. Chocolate does too, but the flavor seem just OK.

Deschain, this is only my second day, so you are probably right about the atty breaking in a bit too. I'm still enjoying this though!

I'm not sure if anyone posted this yet in the thread but i had your problem as well at first. It takes a bit of getting used to with the manual batteries. Plus, give your attie a day to really break in. you will get rid of that nasty taste/harshness you can sometimes find.

Possibly try just dripping? take off your cart, take out filler, rinse both and dry your filler, cut it in half, and put one of em back into the bottom of your cart (dry). 2 drops on your atty and go to town. This makes sure to get rid of any fibers that could possibly hit your atty. You will soon learn the different tastes, amount of vapor, and how hot it is and know the symptoms. To the point of if you are using a plain battery know its going dead in the next drag or two.

Stick with it! A little practice and you wont want to smoke another analog!

I tend to run into trouble when I try to drip. Instead I just pull the cart off and top it off.

Good tip about aligning the atomizer and cart.

Sometimes I don't push the cart in far enough. This will cause the atty to go dry in a few puffs but the cart will still be full.

Sometimes getting a lot of vapor is like starting a campfire. If you blow on it too much or too little you get nothing. Atomizers tend to have a bit of personality and some are just better then others right out of the box.

The juice you use can effect vapor production also.

If your kit came with two atomizers try the other one and see if its the same. I bet its a little different.
