Like everyone else, I got two new atties with my Joye 510 kit. It took a good day of vaping on each atty to get them broken in nicely, to where the primer taste was totally gone and vapor production was high. Both were swimming in primer out of the package, so I blew and blew until they were as dry as I could get them before first vape. I've had these both for a month or so now, I vape fairly heavily, and both are running strong and beautifully.

Nothing lasts forever, so I hit up Rocky Mtn Vapor for a couple of new Joye atties for the inevitable time that my originals die. I got them today and decided to begin the breakin on one of them. There wasn't near as much primer goop, but enough blew out so that I know there was certainly an adequate amount for shipping. I blew it out well, attached, and dripped 5 drops to prime. Before those 5 drops were depleted, the chem taste was gone and it was blowing nice clouds of smoke. I guess my question is this: Is it normal to have such a seemingly short breakin period? I mean, I'm not complaining at all here, it just seemed very atypical compared to my first experience with the first two atties.

Also, the flat sides of the bottom of the cartridge (that surround the bridge) all seem to melt a little on every cartridge I have, whether I use it for dripping or filling. Is this normal or am I causing this somehow? Too long of a burn? Design flaw? What? I don't seem to notice a burnt plastic flavor, and it does not seem to inhibit performance. I was curious if anyone else has noticed the same thing. It seems like every cart is just a tad too long, and that being too close to the coil is melting it a little.

Yeah, that happens. You are likely taking very long draws and the coil is getting pretty hot. Make sure that the oval of the cart end that inserts is lined up with the white base around the coil in the atty. It will go perpendicular to the bridge loop sticking up. Lots of new users think it should go parallel to the bridge, but its white base that it should line up with.

The amount of primer is not a constant. They just squirt some PG into a new atty for storage. Some are dripping with it, some hardly any.

Break in for most of my 510 attys from TW are less than a day, sometimes they are great right away. They are all hand made, so it probably varies, but many here say don't pay attention too much to the atty for the first day of vaping.

That could very well be my problem. I totally thought it made more sense to line it up parallel to the bridge. I'm switching up right now. Thanks for the info, I'll give that a shot!

the bridge gets warm, but it has no current through it. If you take a clean one and just hold the button and look in (this is a "dry burn"), you will see what I mean by the glow shape.
