So i have a Joye 510 with 2 attys. This problem is only with one of them and idk what it is. Today i cleaned them both thoroughly, dried them off and put batteries on. The one that works well (indicated by a peice of tape) i put 3 drops (I drip) on the atty and puffed away. No problems. Good taste good vape, th all that. The other one, i did the same and i got good taste for one drag then a terrible harsh burnt taste. So i put a few more drops on thinking i didnt have enough and when i did that i got almost NO vapor and NO taste. So i puffed and blew for a while untill i could get a good drag then the same burnt taste again. The other one works fine. They are both relitivaly new too. Whats the problem here and how can I fix it?

Thanks

First order more attys.

Then once they are coming your way, you may want to attempt a dry burn. (There should be plenty of posts that popup on that search.) Note that the first 3 times I attempted a dry burn I destroyed the atty I was attempting to save. Now that I have the hang of it, I would say it works most of the time, but not always and it seems to reduce the life of the atty regardless.

Other than storing it for an "emergency use only" or throwing it away, that's my suggestion.

What are you cleaning them with? PGA then a good Hot water rinse? Second one no vapor and flavor sounds like a flooded one, then you worked it out. Try re-cleaning it again, this time let is soak for an hour in PGA. Rinsed, and blow from the battery /threaded end. Prime and let set a few minutes. What flavor juice too, really sweet?

I'm a long time user of 510 attys, if you are dripping it's likely that the wick has burnt and is smoking everytime you heat the coil, there are 2 things to try:

Clean it with PGA or cheap vodka, using a bowl or even better, a cheap ultrasonic cleaner. Then clean with water and then with lemon juice. Try it, if it still tastes burnt, proceed to the next method.

Look for a guide on how to debridge and de-wick the atty (it's better for dripping anyway), follow the instructions and then clean by using the 1st method.

I hope this works for you as good as it has workjed for me :p

Sounds like your wick is burnt like kyokahn stated. In my opinion the best thing for you to do is de-bridge and de-wick your atty, doing a dry burn will not make the burnt taste go away. Also definitely get some more attys like Hoosier stated, its always good to have multiple backups. Here are a few links to youtube on how to de-bridge and de-wick the atty.

Hope this helps :)

Yeah, I think removing the bridge and wick is the way to go, or cleaning over and over again using altrasonic cleaner or the capuccino machine steam (that's surely fun as hell)...
Dry burn may only work if you get to completely destroy the wick, which is not likely to happen before destroying the coil...

I don't remove the bridge because at 9ish watts it spits scalding ejuice on my tongue if the bridge isn't in place. That is the quickest way to get dud taste buds. I could see doing it to get by in a pinch but at 5 bucks every 3 weeks it is pretty darn cheap any way you look at it. I could toss 2 a day for what I was paying for analogs....

I tried de bridge/wicking it and doing a hot water rinse a few times. It still tasted real bad so i threw it out. Ill run one untill my cartos come in. I cant do PGA because I'm and addict with 107 day sober so I cant have that kind of stuff around. If there is a PGA that is non consumable let me know

Congrats on staying sober too......good job! I totally know where you're coming from with that one.....I too, although i wasn't an addict, had q problem with drinking......is why when everyone tells me to clean my attys with vodka or everclear I'm like "Nope.....no can do" because I dont drink the stuff anymore. So am not gna go in a liquor store just for that......u know?

Congrats to you both on sobriety!
Not sure what a good substitute would be, just avoid Isopropyl unless you can thoroughly rinse it off before using the atty.
Iso's poison, and I'm not sure simply rinsing it with distilled water would clean it well enough.
