Just a quick easy question because I could not find looking through the threads.

I ordered and just got delivered some 510 battery connectors because of course I will be trying to build a nicostick among other mods. This will be my first attempt at this.

The connector come packaged with 3 parts: The main housing, a center pole with a hole in it, and a little gray plastic or rubber grommet thing.

How do I put this together? I noticed that in my stock battery connector, the center thing does NOT have that hole through the center (of course looking at it while still firmly in the housing from the outside looking down in).

I believe those are 510's auto batt connectors, you can seal the center hole by a bit of solder or just leave it like that, they should work fine as your manual bat connector, but with the center hole open, juice can get into you nicostick.

I just received the same ones...thought I was NEVER going to get the insulator in!

Just a tip for inserting the center piece into the insulator after it has been inserted into the connector...dab a bit of lubricant (I sprayed a quick shot of silicone spray onto a q-tip) onto the end of it and around the rim of the insulator...slid right in.

And WHY did I have to do this thing? Because when I'd try to insert the center piece into the insulator, it kept pushing the insulator out of the bottom of the connector.

I was really getting mad at those things. Then I found an easy trick.
Place the outside of the connector on the edge of the table so the wire can hang off.
Place the insulator in sitting like it will end up only higher of course.
Use the .... of a 1/4" drill bit, holding the connector, firmly push and the insulator pops in.
Use the same procedure for the center connector.

You know, sometimes even the simplest ideas completely escape us...

Tried your suggestion...worked like a charm! Took all of about 2 seconds.

I think I love you.

Mine came already together so I pushed it out and it tore insulator so I heat shrinked bottom of center post then hs the whole post cut hs off top of post then pushed it in and hs it again from bottom like Robert said to do, then my next 1 I sodered it with gromet in place and it didn't even discolor white insulator, must be pritty tuff, but I was carefull about not getting it to hot and both work fine, and did completely fill hole with soder so fluid doesn't leak down into mod. Where did you get the 1s disacembled? I got mine from Altsmoke.com

Yep, works great! Thanks for the tip!

Another tip - punch the grommet in first, then thread the center wire through it to solder to the center post. On my first try I just put the grommet on the wire but didn't seat it until after I had soldered the center post - it's a lot more difficult that way.

As for manual battery connectors, soldering the center hole shut yields the same result.

WOW I had to build some 510 connectors and the 1/4" drill bit works beautifully.. Little grommet thing popped right in effortlessly.

Thanks for the great tip!
