I just purchased a Joye 510 starter kit from your website. I've read the carts are supposed to last about as long as a pack of cigarettes. The carts that came with your kit (Marlbro) don't last near that long. I can put a fresh cart in with a fresh battery and only get about 5 good hits. The rest are about 20% of the beginning puffs. The carts seem a bit dryer that I expected as well for being new.

Are the carts old and dry maybe? Or do carts really only last about 1 cigarette's worth?

Congrats on buying a kit (I assume this is your first e-cig?) and making a good choice of seller, too. ;) Only been a month for me, and ECF & ElectroNicStix was a great way to start.
(If you're totally new to the forum and to e-cigs, I highly recommend DonDaBoomVape's Wonderful World of Vaping intro.)

Jason will probably have some good input for you, but this is just my view on the cartridge issue you're having:

For a too-dry filler, you can buy extra juice (a good idea in any case!) and add it to a pre-filled cart or try dripping 1-2 drops of juice straight on the atomizer bridge (not too much or you'll flood the atomizer). You'll get a burnt taste when the atomizer is starved for juice.
You might have gotten some that are a bit dry, or you could be having a standard problem people often have with the polyfill cartridge filler material (i.e. slow and poor wicking ability).
You're dealing with the factory-made pre-filled carts (the Marlbro High) that we (almost) all started with on the 510. (They are the standard for the 510 starter kits, so you'll get them from almost any seller.) Some people like them fine, others switch over right away to one of a gazillion alternatives.

And this is purely my nearly-still-a-noob opinion...
...but I think the cartridge filler is the weakest link in what is otherwise a very clever and sleek design by Joye. The polyfill is not that great as a material, and almost nobody seems to get those factory carts to last as long as a pack of cigarettes. Don't judge e-cigs by those carts, in other words, if you don't like them.;)
Here's one discussion on dripping (i.e. putting 1-2 drops directly on the atomizer bridge) and cartridge troubleshooting, for instance. You can always ask for input from Ask The Experts or the New Members' Forum (you can't start a new thread elsewhere til you reach 15 posts). You'll find plenty of discussions here on the best way to get a 510 (or any model) to work well, but really once you get past the learning curve and find a way that works for you it's not that much of a hassle.
Personally I use dripping and the blue foam filler...but everyone finds their preferred method.

Welcome to the forum :)

I have found that you simply aren't going to get a pack of cigs out of a cart...and I am not even using filler (allowing more room for actual fluid). Most vendors simply repeat what the manufacturer is saying, but it simply is not true.

The problem is with the filler for the most part...the polyfil doesn't wick nearly well enough, which is why when a cart is fresh it tastes great, but after a few puffs, the taste drop.

You can search these forums to find many inexpensive replacements for the polyfil, which will yield better results.

Welcome to the new world of vaping! :)

replies thus far have been very helpful. This is my first VP. Even though I'm a complete noobie, I have read about 15 hours worth forums, and have watched tons of videos of info and reviews. I definitely plan on buying e-liquid and refilling my own carts. I may try the spring mod ADM or the blue aquarium foam mod.
When modded how many cigarettes worth would you say a cart may supply. I know it varies greatly, but some general consensus on the idea would be greatly appreciated.

So far I've gotten about 10 analog smokers to consider E-cigs. Some have already purchased a 510 kit. Others are waiting for a paycheck. I'm buying 2 kits for friends for christmas as well.

I'm very excited about everything, and I believe in vaping. When I would get vapor it was great. Although... the flavor was so so.

Thanks for your help. I imagine the cars I received were mainly old and dry, including the poor wicking capabilites of the poly.

I will have to check with the manufacturer. As I get carts each time i order kits i dont stock and sell pre fillled carts for that very reason i dont want them to get old and dry. But yes i always reccomend to a noob when buying an e-cig for the first time to get the following items.

1 kit of your choice
1 pack of blanks
and at least 1 bottle of juice to keep ya going. Buying just the kit doesnt really cut it. and anyone who has called me on the phone will tell you i dont step around the question about how long a cart will last. I tell them straight and to the point that those sites stating they will last a full pack of smokes is a complete and utter lie lol. and mileage varies on carts but if you buy juice you can "top" them off and refill them, you can rinse them out and dry them and re use them but i find most people go to the way of dripping or a cart mod. Just my 2 cents..

Sorry i havent been here in a couple days but im on so many forums, have to work my job and run the business too lol so im stretched a little thin at times but i do my very best to keep people happy. Have a happy holidays!!
