I own a pure smoker v3 supplied by cloud 9 vaping in the uk its great. It came with a hand out sheet explaining that the centre pin of a 510 atty could be pushed inside the atty causing it to fail if screwed on to hard.
If this happens the cells short out and get hot real quick if you try and vape, DONT try and vape.
I had this happen on my first atty, not my fault just a crappy atty I was paranoid of this as I had seen a pure smoker video about the very issue. I am sure this happens to other 510 users to. I was gutted and passed on this had happend to lisa of cloud 9. I explaind it was just a one off and I was not worried. I just think it is a good thing to let people know what happens to the stuff they sell. Quality controll and all. Any how after a week of looking at it looking at me from the shelf I got nasty with the thing.
STEP 1 using a small screwdriver "jewlers style" I picked the silicome washer out from around the centre contact this is made easy by lifting the centre pin with a thumb nail. Just dig it under the edge of the contact and you will find it lifts easy as it has been pushed back anyhow.
STEP 2 using a cocktail stick shove it up the hole in the centre contact bend the stick to one side so it sticks in the contact and gently ease out the contact pin it will come but has a tiny wire from the coil solderd to it go easy the wire is not that long and fragile.
STEP 3 Now you have the centre pin hanging out you will see another silicone washer/grommet/insulator thing it is white and rubbery just like the first seal. It was originally joined to the other seal you just pulled out dont worry this is the problem that stopped the atty from working. The wire from the removed contact goes through it and it is probably behind a little metal ridge that the centre contact is suppost to sit up against but not touch metal to metal. Thats why the silicone washers are there to provide insulation. Now thats the science lesson over.
STEP 4 using the screwdriver or cocktail stick and being very carefull not to damage it prise the second captive silicone seal through the hole past the metal ridge it takes practice and watch the wire or is game over. It will come trust me I got the screwdriver tip through it and placing my finger over the tip made it captive on the screwdriver shaft and gently tugged it out. It will now be sliding up and down the wire.
STEP 5 nearly there now and I am glad I need tea and a good vape..
and if you can do the next bit brain surgery will be a job for you. You need to push the silicone thinngy off over the centre contact so It become free. Now before you do take a good look at the shape of it it is a cone shape or at least stepped like a top hat. If it looks totaly torn and deformed it is time to quit now.
When you have got it free and it looks ok you need to replace it around the OTHER way. Push half of it up and near to comming off trap it on the contact and then do the same with the other side so as to stretch it
it must be off by now if not GET ON WITH IT. . ."Simply" he says replace it thin end first THE OPPOSITE WAY TO THE WAY IT CAME OFF. Push it into the hole as far as it will go with the screwdriver tip again be gentle do not puncture or cut it. wet the sides of the centre contact well and push it back into place. YEA JOB DONE. you do not need to put back the other seal as the other one is doing the job of it and when screwed home it will seal good and tight. Now try it out. Bloody hope it worked after all that.
Thanks for reading an Idiots guide to pushed in centre pins and hope it helped you out not all attys will be the same as this I'm sure so if it reads funny do not try it and let a good hearted geek have a go for you. I will add it worked for me and that is why I spent an hour setting this lot out. Now for a cuppa and a good vape love Rob..
