Hey guys,

I've got one of those ohm meters with a 510/ego connection, it's been working great....Until I got my Omega rba.

I screwed it on as usual and wouldn't give me a good reading, so I took off the rba to look. Along with it came a tiny little insulator that looks to have been under the pin in my 510 connection.

Upon finding this, I of course dropped it under my desk with no hope of ever finding it.

As it stands now, I will turn the ohm meter on and it will just flash all sorts of numbers or display a resistance with nothing screwed in.

I can resolve this by wiggling the center pin of the 510 connection up with a flat head, and I screw my Omega on to it just right, it'll read the Ohms.

Honestly, I don't feel like I can trust it and I really don't want to be using a coil that I don't know the Ohms of.

Anyone experienced with 510 connector troubleshooting? Save me 20ish bucks, I don't wanna buy a new one.:glare:

Oh! Perfect....before I lost my insulator to the carpet gods, it really was a ..... to get it back in there.

I think I have to lift the center pin up and I want the insulator to kind of go around that lip I create, right?

Or, will I have to actually take my 510 connection out and tear it down etc?

I've never done it. Here's a good look at how they are built. I suspect you will have to take the center pin out and un-solder the wire to be able to replace the insulator, but I'm not sure. Hopefully someone who knows will let us both know ;)

Save the $1.49 and wind a bunch of sewing thread around the center pin, then push it back in place. Thats what i did on my vamo, been working great for over half a year.

Actually, that's not a bad idea. It's not a mod. If it fails it will not trash a battery. And no soldering required :thumb:

All you guys from North America (I include Canada) seem to be related to MacGyver.

Why thank you FourWinds :)

Actually, you should see my old LavaTube. I've epoxied the 510 connector back in twice, the second time the top cap too. The battery end cap broke in half and fell off so I glued that back together. The 510 threads stripped a long time ago so I glued in a 510 adapter. I would throw it out and put it out of its misery, but it works fine and still makes a good spare. Does look like it's gone through a war though
