Personally, I've tried two of the passthroughs and the performance of both is worthless. I've used charged batteries from a battery charger and it makes no difference in the performance.

WHEN the passthrough works (which is spotty), it's performance is always weaker than with the normal manual battery. Elfod has posted a very interesting thread in this forum about the passthrough wiring being to thin and I think this a revision that Janty/Joye definately need to make!

I supppose that is his fault as well?

As Scottes pointed out, there are passthroughs with batteries and those without. My very first device was a $10 801 passthrough from bestecig. Loved that thing! Then I tried the Janty KB (which has the 'inline battery') and I loved that even more! Mainly because as long as I had a battery in it, I could use it both on the computer and off...so I could walk around my house with it while doing other things...then just come back and plug it into my computer when I was ready.

It's unfortunate that you got something you didn't want but really, the inline batteries have been around (on the 801s anyway) since I've been here. Some prefer them while other don't. BTW....i bought 4 batts for mine when I first purchased it and I am still rotating only 2 of them.

Well it is unfortunate for the Electronic Company because I will be sending it back to them at their cost under UK law for a full refund as it does not work.
I will aslo be sending back the Titan 510 as well for a full refund as is my right under UK law.

The who idea is **** up it is neither one thing nor the other, you don't want to be paying for batteries when you are using you mains power, to do that is simply mental and it just seems the compaby is trying to screw as much money out of you as possible.
Neither do you want to be walkig around with a wire dangling from you mouth, which will no
doubt get caught in something and rip you teeth out oe damage the device.
It's crazy, t stinks.

Naturally I know a lot of suppliers will like to say it a great product and it is all my fault but that's not the case. You have a bad product, fix it or go out of business.

I suppose that is also my fault?
It is your fault that you didn't read the description.

To say it doesn't perform well is one thing, but you can't say that because you don't even have it yet. All you've been doing is whining about the fact that it comes with a battery, which you didn't know because you didn't read the description.

But now that you have read all these other links - and I have to assume that you've finally read the description - now you'll know better. So move on, buy a USB passthrough that you like, and stop whining about this one.

I have to agree. You really can't fault the company if you bought something you weren't totally familiar with. Perhaps you can return it and just chalk it up to experience to ask questions before you purchase the next time. Trust me, you aren't the only one who has purchased something that wasn't what they expected...from any company...not necessarily TECC. So do what you have to do and be done with it.

Well Scottes you can blabber on all you like about whose fault it was but the proof of the pudding is in the eating.
It is their obligation to make clear how the product works because if I am unhappy with the product I can inform them within 7 days and they have to give me a full refund under UK law.

Also as the product is faulty because the button is missing they have to refund me, including my postage costs.

So anyhow, it is not what I wanted, I wanted something to save on batteries.
The fortunate thing is that the goods were as I said faulty, the button is missing so they I amd entitled to a full refund including the cost of me sending the shoddy item back to the Electronic Cigarette Company.

About time they bucked their ideas up, they as not doing their reputation any good at all, you attempts at defending them are poor, if you work for them you should be sacked lol.

Out of interest, if you get one of those pass-throughs and the battery dies, can it still be used in the plugged-in mode (with or without modding)?

Thanks,

m.

I think it can Mocking bird I think someone managed it in a thread I saw I will try and dig it out for you a bit later.

Another thing I found is that the voltage of the pass through is higher I believe, it goes up to 5v from 3.7 IIRC, however as powers is related to voltage squared this is whopping 82.6% increase.

So even though you have bigger battery it might not even last as long as the smaller one!!

You know Breno, you are totally getting on my nerves. You come in my thread, completely hijack it, and even when asked to get back to the original issue, continue on. That's just plain rude. In this thread I had hoped to collect a few links to sites that sell the batteries I want, or maybe even some retail sellers.

Thanks to you, I got one. Go make your own thread. I love my 510 pass through and want some more batteries for it, the end. I don't really care what you think of it. I just want batteries.

Without modding, no.
With modding, yes. You simply need to connect the battery connectors together, such as soldering a wire between them.

Batteries:
UltraFire 10440 AAA Li-Ion 3.6V Rechargeable Battery 500 mAh FLAT TOP CR10440 Lithium Ion
http://www.lighthound.com/AW-10440-Unprotected-Rechargeable-Lithium-Battery_p_94.html
http://hightechdealz.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=28

I could go on, but I simply googled for "10440 battery"

Just to be sure, it would be a smart thing to take the battery out of the passthrough and double-check the numbers on yours. Mine says something like "icr10440ps" and the statistics - voltage, mainly - printed on the battery match those that I listed above (or close enough).

Not that the first link is 500mah, the second is 400, the third is 600 mah. I'd go with the 600mah since it will last longer if ever unplugged, and should supply more consistent power.

Also note that 2 of the above links do state that they're unprotected. I have to assume that the other link is also for an unprotected version. It would be better to find a protected version of this battery, but I kinda doubt that anyone makes one.

Sorry about that, I though I was trying to be helpful because as I see it if you are connected to a power supply I don't see why you need to spend money on batteries. Obviously you are not as cost conscious as me.
There is apparantly a passthrough for the 510 which does not need batteries but they seem to be out of stick everywhere, not only would that save you money in the long run (I expect) you also don't have the bother of re-ordering. Incidently how long did you battery last?

I found these but you can't seem to buy then for some reason.

Note it is 360mah, the same as the one initially supplied.

They do look like the one I got though.
Whilst you may be annoyed with me for hijacking your thread what do you think of the company which supplied the product given you had trouble getting batteries. I doubt you care now.

Thanks Scottes. I ordered 3 for now. I wonder if radio shack or best buy or something would have those....or even walmart for that matter?

I checked my battery number too. Same thing. These should work I think.

Moon, I couldn't find any either except online so if you do find any locally, feel free to share! :D

Moonbeat, sadly our local Wal-mart, Best Buy, and Radio shack do not carry them in the stores, but each of them kindly recommended I try another store which also did not have them. I love my 510 pass-through, and order the batteries from the Widow because she has fast free shipping. Good Luck with yours!

Frys would probably have them - there isn't one remotely close to me, so I couldn't say for sure, but everyone I know who lives near them says they have everything RS does and then a ton of things they don't.

Thank you for reminding me why we don't sell 510s!;)

... can't say I follow this line of thinking.
