i just got an eGo and i have found as much as i sit here at the computer or in the car i NEED a PT. My issue is, tho, that i went broke buying a eGo kit and juice. I have seen many DIY PT's on youtube and such but i must be a failure at the forum search button. I found ALL the information i could ever use. but what im lookin for lol. so a few questions answered or even just a point at the threads im lookin for would be AWESOME

1) a 510 connector.... where do i get one? madvapes doesn't carry them any more
2) is any thing more than the simple usb (+) to button to carto connector and usb (-) to carto connector involved? ( i may add an LED but i mean in general no other transistors / resistors / capacitors?)

i was planning on doin a regular project box with a button at first to test the waters

if the ideas in my head are good and i can find the connectors and such im probably going to make one that utilizes a button on my keyboard and a pigtail from the board to the carto and running a second usb to power it all from the keyboard ( to a usb-wall adapter on the desk's power strep) sounds involved i know but i have been doing computer mods and custom mobile (car) electronics since the mid 90's and i pretty much can't not go over the top on things like this lol

I built a simple 5V PT with no other components other then USB cable, switch, connector and a box to house it. You can get the 510 atty connectors at liberty-flights.com. They might be still out of stock but they should be getting more soon if they are out. I bought everything but the atty connector at madvapes.com. If you don't need a led and don't mind vaping at 5V rather the 3.7V, this is the easiest solution. Btw when you buy the USB cable the only wires you'll use for this mod will be the red and black wires, the other two can be clipped off and ignored.

well if your going straight threw or directly off the USB with no voltage reduction. Thats 5 volts so for a reg ohm atomizer that 2.5ohms it would want 2.0 amps, For a LR atomizer thats 1.8ohm it would want 2.77 amps @ 5 volts. So either way a computer USB port wont provide enough amps and you will get a voltage drop. You can get USB powered hubs that are 2 amps and i believe there are wall adapters made for Apple products that are USB and 3 amps. According to USB 2.0 specs a usb port can provide up to 1.5 amps in charge mode. But that relies on the computer maker following USB specs also you would need a resistor of at least 200 ohms between the data lines to kick it into charge mode. I pretty much use my variable voltage battery card most of the time but i do have a 2 amp powered USB hub i use also for vaping. I dont use my computer anymore just due to the fact if my puter fries thats over a grand out the window if my USB hub fries thats only 10 bucks if my battery card goes thats only 25 bucks. Although it seems to be pretty rare there are quite a few reports of people's computers going out from using PT's on them.
