510 Passthrough

I am new to all of this and I have been reading about the passthrough and it sounds interesting. I am using Blu at the moment and the idea of plugging directly into a USB port and vaping sounds interesting. My question is in some of the discussion I read about batteries in the passthrough, what is the purpose for the battery? My understanding is you screw the passthrough onto the carto, plug into a USB port and vape away. Am I mistaken on the usage of the passthrough and are there models that do not have the battery? What is the best one to use with Blu?

Thanks in advance for your help!

Think of a passthrough as an e-cig battery that can be charged while you use it. For lack of a better way to explain it, it must have the battery in there as a "buffer" between the relatively low current coming off a USB port and the much higher current firing a carto or atty requires. They all have a battery. You can also detach the battery from the charging cable and take it anywhere, along with always being able to use it once it's plugged into a USB port. (When plugged in they do require a minimal charge to be present on the battery before it will function at all.) It's a sensible option for people who are at a fixed location for extended periods because it eliminates having to continually recharge batteries and still gives you the flexibility of it working like a regular battery with the cable removed.

I don't know what threading Blu uses so I don't know what you need to get there. Most passthroughs are 510 threaded and a couple places carry an 808 threaded as well.
