I'm new to vaping having purchased my first e-cig about 6 weeks ago. I recently decided to upgrade based on the recommendations I saw in this forum. I purchased a Joye 510 kit with some extra parts, a bunch of juice, a passthrough, drip tip, and a PCC.

The first few days everything worked great, but then I noticed that the volume of vapor started dropping off and the throat hit was not there at all when using batteries. Everything works good using the passthrough.

I was wondering if I'm doing something that would cause this, or is it normal? I keep my batteries charged so that isn't the problem. As far as I know I juice the same for batteries and the passthrough.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks

Welcome! I have two thoughts on your situation, both of which assume the passthru is a higher voltage. First, once I've vaped at HV, any lower voltage seems to lack TH and vaper in comparison thereby seeming weak to me. Second, it may just be me, but my attys don't seem to perform as well at low voltage after being used on HV for any length of time. I've begun using seperate attys for each, though HV is now my standard vape.

You might need to clean your atty

http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/tips-tricks/69834-my-atty-resurrection-method.html

If the passthrough gives more volts it might be able to give enough power to get a good hit while the battery does not. I don't know, just learning myself, and don't have a passthrough. But cleaning a 2 week old atty as described on the link seemed to be a good thing (I did it to change flavor, but it does seem to have waken it up, or it could be the different fluid - like I said, I don't know - but might be worth a try)

If his atty works on the PT he doesn't need to clean it..
CS - I find my atties give a better vape on the PT because its a slightly higher voltage than the basic manual battery. The manual comes in around 3.1v and the PT (the inline battery ones) around 3.3/3.4v (rough estimate there lol).
The eGo gives me a better vape than the regular manual battery although I dont know what voltage that one hits at, but it seems higher than a reg. I do find that once Ive used both PT and eGo the regular manuals seems really wimpy lol. Ditto on your obsevation about vapor. The PT gives me CLOUDS. Its one reason I havent dumped my PT, even though the inline battery ones can be a royal pain in the behind at times (thin wires break easily and battery dies without warning).
A 5v PT is even better (no inline battery in that one) although it suffers from the same thin wire issues.
Welcome btw :)

Sounds like maybe the battery connections/threads might be gummed up.
Try wiping out the battery threads with a q-tip or tissue and blow out the atty.

I sometimes experience that after I flood my atty. This does not happen on my 3.7 PT or 5v they just power through a flood.
