Would love to post this in the 510 model specific forum but what's a newbie to do. : )

So I have recently returned to the world of vaping, having given up after too many failed atomizers and batteries. I ordered the 510 - T and have been generally very satisfied with the device. I prefer having a portable e-cig, moderate battery life, with a drip function built in. The 510 T accomplishes all of these things except for the universal leakage issue.

I built a neat little carrying case for my 510, using an aluminum wallet and foam elbow pad to secure the cig.

It works fantastic! That is, it would work fantastic if I could solve the problem of my leaky tank. As many of you know, the 510 tanks come with a little cap that fits around the hole closest to the atomizer. If these caps properly sealed in the liquid I would be golden--able to easily carry everything I need for a quick vape. Problem is, they leak like a levee in New Orleans, especially when I walk, run, or generally move like a human being (i.e. wallet fail).

The solution is simple, find some way to plug the end, yet I have not stumbled on how to do so.

Have any of you built a functional cap or figured out some way to stuff the hole (no pun intended)? I've been trying to think of some household item, a bit of wire, or some other way to modify the end cap that comes with the kit. It amazes me that Joye didn't anticipate this problem, and that I'm left with a non-mobile mobile e-cig better used for house vaping and static couch parties.

Thanks!

Leo

P.S. No I'm not ready to move to cartomizers. :2cool:

Where you least expect it....
I've only owned an ego-T but, from how I understand it. The 510-T has basically the same design for both the cartridge and atomizer.

There are two reasons why it could leak from my experience. One would be that the wick is a little too high in the piercing plate. Allowing access e-liquid to drip into the atomizer.

So, the wick would have to be adjusted to rectify the issue. You can either use a pin to adjust the wick. Or pop off the piercing plate with a little screw driver (some use a hemostat) and adjust the wick that way.

Another reason...which I kind of doubt since you've bought it not too long ago. Is that the action of popping the cartridge on and off of the atomizer. Makes the little hole that would connect to the piercing plate. Becomes larger through time and thus, lead to leaking.

if your talking about capping of the tanks when the are not on the 510-t, i would suggest using a old cartomizer cap, as they should fit over perfectly and seal them up so they can be carried with no leaking.

Yes, exactly. My problem is not leakage when I vape but when transporting the tank. As you can see in the picture, I store my atty and tank separately. Currently I'm using the end cap that comes with the tank kit to seal the end. They are little rubber end caps that fit over the hole, but they don't have a tight enough seal to keep liquid from spilling out, especially when I walk around.

Has anybody tried the cartomizer caps before? If they do work well, where can I pick some up.

Thanks!

I'm looking for something similar. So far this is the closest thing I've found: Silver 510 Battery Connector, Sealed - would this potentially work?

Still looking around; I will let you know if I find something better.

Welcome back. I used those for a very short time for just the reason you are citing. Since you have been away for awhile, you might want to check out the new gear. The clearo's are kind of like those tanks, only better because you can replace the heads so end up being very inexpensive. The mini vivi nova is good also. They hold a bit more than the those tanks too.

I can't help you with that problem and tossed mine when I got the rebuildable clearo and the vivi's. I just couldn't take the mess any more. Good luck with your quest in any case!

I just started using clearo's recently and I graduated from cartomizers, atomizers and tanks. I recommend and just purchased a ViVi Nova Mini and there is no turning back now. I am simply waiting for my next check so I can pick up a couple more. There is a world of difference with TH, flavor and overall vapor production. Yes, they are a tad bigger (the mini's aren't bad) but the heads/wicks can be replaced so it works out being cheaper in the long run after making the initial investment.

I will echo what others have said, if you are just getting back into it check out the Ego-T batteries or Ego Twist variable voltage (my next battery after the Ego-T's fail) ... I just graduated from the 510's :)

Those clearos look really interesting. So no problems with leaking with those? I'm really interested in finding a portable solution with my case. All of my credit cards now smell like e juice because of those blasted joy tanks.

Any particular 510 compatible clearomizer you would recommend?
