Currently I have a Riva 901 and so far, I am pleased. Although, I was wondering if the 501 attys would outperform my current 901 stock. I am looking to back-up my supply, and wondered if I should try some 510 attys with the 901 to 510 connector. Thanks for your time and imput.7-2.

In the past - when there wasn't a wide range of different ohms on atomizers - the regular 510 would give you more wattage than the 901 which would be good for flavors that wake up with more heat. Now - 901's are available in a much wider range of resistance, so the 'need' for a 510 atty is diminished. You can now get an 'LR' 901 that is in the range of the regular 510 (2.1-2.3Ω) and below. So you might want to try finding some of the 901LR's.

That said.. there is a difference in the way Joye makes the 510 atty vs. how SLB/DSE makes the 901 atty. With the Joye 510, you have a base of metal mesh around the bridge which tends to hold ejuice better, imo, and close to the coil. The 901 has more of a washer type base - relying on the bridge mesh to hold ejuice. As a result of the different design - coupled with the fact that dry coils can put off nasty tastes and can burn out more easily - some think that the 510 design is better - esp. if you wanted to try dripping where the metal mesh base would be better in holding ejuice.

If you're using cartridges - using 901 LRs should work for you. If you're dripping - you might want to try a 510... either way, picking up an adapter and a 510 atty is likely worth the 'education/experience' :)

My experience is that you'll sacrifice some of the flavor of your juice by going to a 510. However, you will gain more vapor and throat hit. If the loss of flavor would be an issue for you, I would suggest giving the 902 a try. The 902 takes what is best about the 901 (flavor) and combines it with what is best about the 510 (vapor and TH). They are available with either a 510 connection, or their original 902 connection. They aren't the cheapest atomizers out there, as they usually run about $10 each, but I really can't say enough good things about them. Both ModernVapor and Revolver carry them.
