I would like to know what switch he used. It looks similar to some I got from Ratshack, but I think it would fry the switch. I vape pretty heavy at times and would hate to put all that work into something to use for only a few minutes.
I would imagine that is one. In the past many used that switch for 5V, Robert's Detonator did too. Folks claimed it held up, I'm pretty sure Boondongle said it held up. But that's not to say that the current switch being sold is the same build quality.

What e-cig are you using that doesn't make your 10 hour shift? and how long does it last you?

Compare the mah of your current vape to a pair of CR2 cells, and a linear regulator running at 5 volts.

Building a box mod is absolutely the way to go. Experience in mod making, vaping your own creation, etc.

Leaning a little as you go.

Best to ya,
Rocky

I have a 2xAA 5v mod using a PTN04050C booster.. just use 2 tantalum 100uf caps on the booster, run the output through a 3A horn switch to the atty connector, put the PTN04050C below the horn switch and use AW IMR14500 batts. Works sweet, up to 4h run time for me on each IMR14500 batt. Under a load its around 4.8v. I also installed a fire LED, and when the batts get low it'll start to flicker so you know when to change them out without damaging the IMR's, not to mention the booster will cut out before the IMR's get too low. Been running on it for over 6 months now and it works as good as the day I built it. I use SR Boge cartos on it (about 3.2 ohms).

I have pretty much the same setup and like it very much, but it won't last 10hrs, for me 6. Mustang, you have the same switch as the OP one, what are you missing for in the way of plans? This pic shows just about everything with placement and most of the wiring too:
