Can someone please explain to this noob about 5v vaping. I need more of something that I am not getting on my eGo 1100 mah battery but can not really tell you what it is I am missing or not pleased with. Please explain to me the pros and cons of 5v vaping. And what is the cheapest/easiest way of making or buying one. I think my disappointment lies in the fact that I seem to just hold the button down for 7-8 sec, and sometimes do not even feel like I am getting a hit but I know I am because on the exhale I get plenty of vapor and reasonable flavor. Steer me in the right direction please.

The operating voltage on your battery is as follows.

    Voltage: 3.2-3.7V operating voltage

What ohm atty are you using? The reason I ask is you may not need to increase your voltage at all, you need to increase the resistance of addy. Watts(heat) = Volts x Amps

No, they would need to decrease the resistance.
Funny, I have a 3.4v, 3.7v, 5v and a VV all sitting here on my desk, and they all taste pretty much the same. It's simply a matter of what I use on those voltages to get the taste that I want.
Put a 1.5ohm atomizer on that eGo bat and you might be surprised. Put a 3ohm atty on 5v and you will be surprised by how close to the same it is.
The reason for that is they are both @ 8+/-0.3watts

    Voltage is irellevant to vaping.

What you need to be focusing on is Wattage.

    Voltage squared divided by resistance.

Your ego (running at around 3.4v) with a 1.5ohm atomizer produces 7.7 watts.

A 5v device with a 3.2ohm atty will produce around the same wattage.

The reason people vape at higher voltage is kinda two-fold. One, a lot of people desire higher wattage which is pretty impossible to get on an eGo style battery. I vape anywhere from 10-20 watts, which would be impossible to produce with an eGo.

The next reason is vaping at a higher voltage with a higher resistance atomizer is easier on your batteries as it pulls less current (please correct me if I'm wrong, my knowledge of electronics is fairly limited).

What I am wondering is do the high resistance atomizers last longer? I use ego batteries with LR atomizers and take very good care of them, but they will almost always last about a month and then go out on me. I love the way they perform while they are working, but then they just die on me. There is no loss of performance most of the time before they die, I take a hit and it is great and then go to take another hit and then nothing, like someone turned the switch off. I have tried other peoples devices and know that 5 volts is what I want, I was just wondering if changing devices and using high resistance atomizers would give me longer service on my attys. Also, I like to drip and keep my attys very wet to get lots of flavor.

You need to remember the old adage: The candle that shines twice as bright lasts half as long.

If you are decided on 5v vaping, you need an atty that has a minimum ohm reading of 2.9 to get to
8 watts of power. The lower ohm reading you go at 5v, the higher the wattage, and the hotter the vape.
And, since you are a dripper that likes to keep the atty very wet, a higher wattage is good.
Don't think of it at making your attys last. Think of it as making your vaping experience great. :)

What you are describing is a lack of throat hit. Higher voltage might not be the correct solution to your problem.

Thanks for the info, I am not dissatisfied with my vaping experience with the LR attys at 3.7 volts, but am limited on funds at the moment and guess I was hoping they would last longer. :) I have pretty much decided to get something that will vape 5 volts, I just haven't decided what to get yet. I just hit 5 months w/o analogs and guess I am ready to branch out further than my pocketbook will allow. :D

Actually, a 1.5ohm dual coil cartomizer on a 3.7V device hits exactly the same as around 5Volts...so Ive been told by the mod makers and experts..Im using several mods, but the silver bullet...or my ego...hits very good with a 1.5ohm dual coil carto. Give that a try...the cheapest route to try....before jumping into a 5v device that uses smaller batteries and your forever charging them because you use them up every few hours...the 18650 batteries will give you a couple days of use between charges..of course depending on your vaping habits it varies acordingly.

I love misinformation! Try a 5V with a dcc on it. There's no comparison! You're trying to compare apples to oranges with this statement. And for 5V batteries, most will last a user around 6 hours. As for 18650's, I can run one down in 6-7 hours.

Search threads for how to make the puck. $9 worth of parts from radioshack and 4 AAA NIMH rechargeable batteries from Dollar General and 1 hour to make it. 4.8 Volts, charge lasts me about 8 hours heavy vaping. I use a 2.8 ohm fluxomizer xl from gotvapes.
Thanks, I have seen a couple of videos on making box mods, but none that I felt gave enough info for someone who has never put anything like that together before. I have a little diy skills in other areas, but not much in electronics. I will search for the threads you mention and see if I feel I can tackle the project. Actually, the more I look at stuff and read, the more I feel it probably is not incredibly difficult. It would be great to make one for that price. My son is a computer guy and can solder.
