I picked up a VZ 6V mod from the classifieds and it has a 510 thread, which is the same as all my other batteries.. but I've never had anything other than the standard 750mah/1100mah batteries that I believe run ~3.7/4v. Is it OK to use LR atty's / cartos with 6V? I have some 2ohm and 1.5ohm single coils, and some 2ohm dual coils that I was going to use, and maybe a LR atty with tank cart.. I just wanted to make sure I wasn't going to explode something in my mouth.. :vapor:

Also, the VZ 6V says it takes the CR123a batteries (2x 3V = 6V).. I have some Lithium CR123A batteries (non-rechargable) that I use for camera equipment.. OK to use those before I order the rechargeables?

Thanks!

At 6v, you need 3 ohm and higher resistance. Beyond 4.2v-4.5v, low resistance atty coils die rapid deaths and you wouldn't like the taste from burning liquid at higher voltages. Even at 3.7v, some of my juices begin to take on a harsh taste in a LR Boge carto. I like most juices at the 3.4v regulated by an eGo batt.

The ultimate vaping tool is a variable voltage mod that allows you to change the voltage to find the ultimate level for the best taste. Sometimes, a quarter of a volt change can make a noticeable difference.

This one is $35 from Madvapes and gives you a 0v - 7.4v range to play with using two 14500 batteries. It's a cheap way to enter the VV mod arena and experiment. It doesn't have a voltage display, but uses a thumbwheel to vary the voltage and Madvapes also sells a digital voltmeter for $14.99 that screws onto the 510 connector with a connector on the other end for your 510 atty. It's a quick way to set the voltage under load for a particular atty. Then you remove it and vape (or leave it connected).

Thanks! I do have a couple standard resistance attys w/ tank carts, so it sounds like that might be the best way to go until I can order some standard resistance cartomizers.. Thanks for the heads up, that was what I was concerned about, not having used high(er) voltage stuff before.

Thanks for the link, i'll check that out!

Confirm.. Running the 1.5 duals from COV @ 6v. Expected it to be a lot hotter than it is given ~24 watts (net).

As expected, battery cycles are pretty short; "safe" batteries strongly recommended.

I was using a regular singe coil atty when mine popped. The dual coils can handle the higher voltage.

Sure, stuff happens..

Typically in a single coil setup people push around 7-10 watts (12 gets nasty to me). But at 24w (v^2 / r ) there is a rapid discharge as it takes more amps to feed provide that power. Just something to consider.
