Hello all,
I have made it 7 days, and I feel very good about my future prospect of vaping. Thought I'd share my story. I started out as a closet smoker and smoked off and on for about 2 years. After that, I was smoking regularly, but still kept it a secret from just about everyone. My wife didn't even know until years later, and didn't see me smoke for a few years after. Smoking, for me, was a private thing that I was ashamed of. I didn't want to be judged, but I loved the action and the little break from life. I still have fond memories of sitting out at night alone smoking. It was theraputic for me.
So now, most everyone knows I smoke except a few family members that I still don't have the heart to tell. I have been a smoker for somewhere around 7-8 years, and up to a pack a day. To quote my local B&M shop owner, "I didn't know my car started without a lit cigarette!" I had tried to quit a few times, albeit half heartedly. I not only had a physical addiction to them, but an emotional attachment to smoking. I tried cutting back, an analog look-alike e-cig from the mall in 2010, and most recently Chantix. None came close to curbing my cigarette addiction. Then two weeks ago I decided to look into those e-cigs again, hoping they've improved. I stumbled across ECF and realized that the thing I was missing most was the smoke from smoking. I always liked the "dance" of the smoke.
After about 20+ hours of research on here and other sites, I decided on 2 1000 mAh Twists and some clearos. Best decision in my life! I haven't bought a pack of smokes in over a week. I have tried smoking the stink stick 2x, and only got in 3 puffs before they were promptly replaced with my PV. They taste absolutely awful!
The hardest part by far are the activities that smoking had attached itself to. Driving = chain smoking. Mow the yard, and finish with a smoke. Wake up, eat, try to go to bed... better burn one. It still crosses my mind from time to time throughout the day, but usually I argue with myself in my head while hitting my PV, and it magically gets easier.
I know it's a long text wall, but overall, thanks for the support and information. And for the noobs looking into quitting, this is, IMO, the easiest way to do that. You can check out a blog post I made for tips to quitting with a PV.
