7 dead atomizers in a month?

This is really starting to get annoying! Last month I purchased a 5 pack of low resistance atomizers from Liberty Flights. One week later and the first one died. I contacted Liberty and they said they couldn't do anything because atomizers are only warrantied for 7 days.
Over a span of three weeks the rest of these atomizers died, some within a hour or two of taking them out of the package. With the response I got from Liberty (atomizers suck, use cartomizers), I decided to take my business elsewhere.

So I ordered another 5 510 low resistance atomizers from litecigusa.com. They just arrived today and the first one died within minutes of me attaching it to one of my batteries. The second one lasted an hour.

What is going on? I've spent nearly $80 on these, and they continue to croak. Could it be that my Riva batteries are causing this?

Thanks for any advice/help in advance!

I think the 7 days at LF applies to LR. I am kind of wondering what they might have said for one that croaked within an hour of use.

I think it is possible that the Riva bat might have something to do with situation. Don't know - but seems possible. Riva, compared to an eGo bat, operates at higher voltage. Not sure about loaded voltage on a LR but at 2.5 ohms - higher for Riva vs eGo, most of time before cut off. So heat may be higher for the Riva fired LR - leading to earlier failure.

Is LR essential to you? If not, go to regular resistance. LF guarantee is longer and longer life more likely.

I popped 510 atomizers like popcorn my first month. Now most of mine are lasting months at a time. It's not your Riva.

I suggest trying LR 306s. They are far less finicky. The golden rule is keep them wet. No dry burning. I can't tell the diff between the higher priced ones and the sales ones. Also, no major maintenance like booze, sonic cleaners, vinegar/soda volcanos to clean. Rinse in hot water, blow the water out and dry the connector, add juice. Wha-la.

They're on sale now at ecigexpress 5 LR 1.5 ohm 306 attys plus 5 thick delrin drip tips for $29.00. Those drip tips are awsome! I've paid $4.99 for one of those drip tips alone. The quality of the Bauway brand LR 306s are stellar for me. Look in deals and steals thread for a code for $1.50 off that price. Be sure to test each one when they arrive. I think BWB is also selling this 5 + 5 deal.

I bought the 2/$20 with a Cannon drip tip from Cherry Vape and didn't test them. When I went to use them, both were DOA but I waited too long to get a replacemnt. My bad. I should have tested them. Lesson learned. Good luck!

Could be a Battery issue. Have you tried another battery? you can also test the battery voltage if you have a meter Have you primed the atomizers. I generally put 3-5 drops straight on the atty if it is new, then put my cartridge in and then draw without power a few times and then do some short primer puffs. good luck.

Low Resistance atomizers allow more current to run through the coil, unfortunately that severely shortens their life span. If you batt is putting too much current through them it'll kill them quick, these usually work better on 3.7 or higher volt mods. I'd suggest regular atomizers or duel coil cartomizers.

LR atties need to be kept wet in order to get a good life span out of them. Are you dripping or trying to use carts with these? If you're trying to use carts, that could be the problem right there. LR and HV atties are meant to be used with dripping in order to keep them wet and prevent them from popping.

If you have the habit of chain vaping, you might want to slow it down a bit and give the atty time to cool down. Running them hot can also cause them to pop.

Thanks for the quick responses. I have three Riva batteries (one melted down shortly after I got my first kit, so I got a second kit). I put the battery I was using to the side and started using one of the others and, so far, it hasn't killed my 3rd atomizer (yet).

I did test my batteries with a meter the other night. I'm not exactly savvy with multimeters, but it reported that they were each putting out 4 volts. I also tested the dead atomizers, which were showing between 18 and 22 ohms, so dead.

As for the warranties, Liberty Flights basically said that the box of 5 atomizers were all covered for 7 days after they arrived. Since the first one died after 7 days, the warranty for all the atomizers in the box was expired and I was on my own.
I've already shot a message off to litecigusa.com regarding these new ones I got today, but of course their support page says they're on vacation for a week, so I won't be hearing back from them for a while.

Another odd thing I noticed: These new atomizers from litecigusa.com came with no primer in them. They were dry as a bone, so I primed them with some juice and let them sit for several minutes before trying them. Didn't seem to help the first two, but this 3rd one in a different battery seems to be working alright.

Still, feels like I've been ripped off twice now.

The only other thing I can add is keep them wet. When in doubt drip, if your still in doubt drip again. As others have said LR attys draw more current and heat up faster, this causes them not to last as long as others, your only defense is keeping them wet and the voltage down but your using a Riva battery so that's not an issue.

I don't think you're reading the multimeter correctly. 18 and 22 ohms? Your multimeter should be set to 200 on the ohms, then calibrate it by holding both leads together. Subtract the number that appears from what you see when metering the atty. Place one lead in the hole on the atty and the other one should touch the threads. It doesn't matter which lead goes where.

When you're metering the batteries, you need to do this while it's under load. Place one lead on the center post and one on the threads and then press the button. This is a little difficult to do with two hands.

Not all atties come with primer on them and I will never understand why they do. It really doesn't serve a purpose and the atties that I buy from IkenVape are bone dry when I get them. This allows me to prime them and break them in myself.

I suspect the mutimeter readings are correct - although probably not a high end meter. Off charger I get ~4.2 volts - unloaded for Riva. Loaded at 2.5 ohms - 3.8 volts. For Joye eGo - 3.4 volts off charge and 3.2 volts loaded at 2.5 ohms. 18 ohms/22 ohms - good as dead. But does suggest not "popped". Might try a Coke bath, boiling, etc. cleaning to see if they might be revived. Not likely - but maybe. Worth a try I would suggest.

...... I also tested the dead atomizers, which were showing between 18 and 22 ohms, so dead....

Going to high ohms is a pretty sure sign of a bad connection (cold solder joint, most likely). If you burn out the coil, it shows open (no reading). I'm guessing that you got a bad batch.

......Still, feels like I've been ripped off twice now.

Quality control is a problem for all our vendors. I've had good luck with Joye attys but I've moved to the ce2s for dripping and duel coils for out and about. I suggest a friendly email to LF, with an exact meter reading for each atty.

Hey Jarnin....My .02 cents worth...and it may not be popular....but I would take every atty you have and toss them....get a dual coil carto (or 5 ) and quit foolin around with attys. ( I know all you atty purists are chomping at the bit right now and I'm sorry but there is a large faction of us out here that have no luck with attys and we envy you guys that do....but in my opinion...attys suck....bad)

I tried....really tried with atties. Read everything I could find....tried every trick....Just came to the realization that atties and me don't mix.

Again..my .02 cents worth....and I have it on good authority(wife) that I'm kinda (read this as major..apparently) a dumb ..., but after 6 months of fooling with atties I just quit doing it and I am so better off for it.

You don't have to vape an atty to enjoy vaping,,,,,

Here's a chart on ohms & batts:

Why resistance and voltage is important!

I stick with 2.5 ohm attys so I can use on both Joye 510 & Riva 510 batts. I found Riva is a lot more powerful and I release the button much quicker just in case. Besides, my juice carts can't keep up, get burnt taste.

Oh, and I do dry burn my attys almost daily. All attys are alive after 2 months.

just speaking from my personal experience with liberty flights... I bought rivas from them and they both died in less then a mth and every atty lasted about a week, but I was still new to vaping... But if you havent tried, dispute it with paypal.. tell them you worked in good faith with the supplier... I will bet you will get every cent back... Thats how I had to resolve my lf problem..
