Cut two pieces of rinsed and dried blue foam approximately 18mm long and 12mm wide.

Put a drop or two of e-liquid directly on the atomizer bridge, then slide the two pieces of blue foam, side-by-side lengthwise, down into the barrel of the 801 atomizer. (I am using a high bridge atomizer).

Once you get the blue foam completely down inside the edge of the atomizer barrel use one of the refillable cartridges (with the white plastic extension) to lightly pack the blue foam down against the bridge until you feel it slightly spring back.

Add 10 or more drops of e-liquid directly onto the blue foam down inside the atomizer barrel (not sure of total number of drops yet, may need 20 or more when new)

Now using one of the blank, empty whistle-tips that comes with the 801 atomizer (without the white plastic extension and filler material) vape away. Edit: I discovered this morning you can easily pull the white plastic piece off of the black rubberized tip.

Pull off the tip to add more drops of e-juice, as needed, down inside the barrel of the atomizer.

I am using this on my Xhaler at 5 volts, with the bottom rim of the 801 atty ripped off for better airflow, and so far it seems to work well...

Comments and feedback welcome!

I have been looking for a decent mod for the 801 and this sounds easy and interesting. I do have one question: what do you mean when you say " with the bottom rim of the 801 atty ripped off for better airflow" Do you mean the bottom rim of the cart?

Other than direct dripping I can't find anything (original carts and mods) that taste good for any length of time on an 801.

Thanks,
Lynn

There is an aluminum band around the bottom of the 801 atomizers and the Xhaler adapter for the 801 does not have groves to allow for better airflow. I used small wire cutters and then needle nose pliers to cut this band off.

This should not be an issue with 801 auto or manual batteries.

You can see the band on the battery end of the atomizer, black metal, and the brass threaded piece. You need to cut into the black metal lip without damaging the brass-threaded piece. Once you get started you are committed to removing the entire band from the bottom of the atty and the brass underneath will be exposed to the outside.

Hope this makes sense?

I've been using this on one fill since last night in a Janty stick. Serious chain vaping(hours, should have counted the hits) some delicious VG Rath waffle juice and finally emptied it out. I put over 20 drops in on the initial fill. When it started to feel like the hits were drying out I pulled out the foam and found that the little bit of remaining juice had been pulled to and concentrated right where the foam was making contact with the atty bridge. Perfect wicking! I'm sure I could have vaped up every drop but stopped a bit early to make sure I wasn't going to be burning blue foam.

Draw is perfect, didn't get noticeably harder. No leakage from the blue foam at all, which is impressive. I left the stick just laying flat all night and the housing is perfectly dry this morning. Throat hit a bit softer than dripping but nicer and much more consistent than with carts. No burnt taste at all, this is just pure juice taste, very clean. Absolutely no gurgling or signs of flooding. Love it!

So far this seems to be the mod that will get me using and enjoying my 801 attys more! Worth a try for sure, check it out penstyle lovers!
