Hi everybody!

2 of my 801 batts do the following:

when I drag the light goes on and off, depending (way too much) on how hard the drag is. 2 new(er) batteries are performing fine.

I guess the sensor (?) that closes the circuit is "sticky" or something, from what I read that can happen if you flood the atomizer (overfilled cart or dripping too much). Sigh.

Any insight how to clean that? The batteries should still have some life, I charged them maybe 30 times.

And yes, I ordered manual batteries/passthrough already.....;)

Any insight/tips greatly appreciated!

Thanks, Chris

Once a battery goes bad, for whatever reason, they are often difficult to impossible to revive. Some batteries blink when it is time to charge them, when you take too many puffs in a short period of time, or when the switch is crippled. I have read a few user experiences that dipping the threaded end into some alcohol - only about a half inch or so - shaking it out and letting it dry has helped. If that doe snot work, pitch them and save yourself a headache.

You've already received some good advice and counsel on this. My remarks have to do with those manual 801 batteries (not necessarily the passthough) you ordered.

Don't expect too much from them. I didn't like the one I tried out: more awkward to use, less vapor production, and a flimsy switch. In fact, that teeny tiny button is now stuck in an out of reach position. And I am not alone with this disenchantment with the 801 manual. See the relevent threads in the 801 model-specific review subforum. For example, Rocky Mountain Vapor (a great and inexpensive US source for 801 parts had discontinued stocking the autos in favor of the newer manuals. They're now bringing them back.

I myself have had no problem with my 801 autos. They turn on every time I draw and only when I draw ... Until they give up the ghost.

However, instead of continuing to buy weak, short-lived (and short mAh) 801 batteries, of whatever type of switch, now might be the time for you to upgrade to the big mamas (still using the great 801 atty). My choice was the Prodigy; I've also read strong reviews of the comparable (but different) GG.

These are pretty large and fat and look nothing like an analog cigarette. [The penstyle looks like a cigarette with an old-fashioned holder (as in my avatar).] And the upfront investment (one-time) is steep ($140 for the Prodigy), but the payoff is *great* vapor, throat hit, and battery life (both types) ... and the CR123a batteries (inside the Prodigy housing) last a long time, recharge quickly, and are cheap to replace.

If these are too fat and/or expensive for you, consider the more streamlined and somewhat less expensive Puresmoker Protege (about to be released), the VP1, or breakfastchef's Super-T1 (801). Or the Janty Stick (the least expensive, but I wouldn't call it streamlined).
