I was wondering if anyone has found a better way to mount the 801 battery connector inside a nicostick besides epoxy. I did that and the connector has come loose on me twice from taking the atty on and off. Perhaps I need a better epoxy. I bought the two part epoxy from ace hardware. I thought about just mounting the connector in the end of the box like I do with 510 fittings but with the 801 that makes the nicostick pretty long when the atty is attached. Any suggestions will be appreciated. Thanks!

You didn't say if the epoxy is coming loose from the atty, or from the plastic case. Because some epoxy doesn't work to well with plastic. The epoxy I have says right on the front of the package; Bonds wood, metal , ceramic, glass, tile, and most plastics. Some of them don't say anything about plastic, so I imagine if you have one of those, it won't work to well.

Edit- Roughing up the plastic a little, will help the epoxy get a better grip. But you still need epoxy that is made for plastic, and metal.

I have several battery tubes without connectors. I cut a piece about 1 inch long. Then I drill a mounting hole in the center of the tube for a 4-40 screw. Then I solder the wires on the 801 connector and press it in the tube.

I drill a hole for mounting in the battery box and mount the tube / connector with a screw.

I usually add a rubber washer between the tube and battery box housing to act as a spacer.

let me know if you need some pictures.

Guys thanks for the info. I have not had a chance until now to check back on this thread. All sound like good ideas. By the way the epoxy is coming loose from the plastic. I don't have any battery tubes as I have never bought an 801 kit, just attys and battery connectors. I will definitely try some of these ideas as soon as I get time. I am sick of my battery connector coming loose on me. By the way, anyone have liquid leakage problems? I noticed that I am also getting some liquid inside my nicostick.

you may try some JB WELD if you aren't using it now.... not all epoxy is the same.
heck with JB WELD you can glue water together.

for the strongest, long lasting bond use JB WELD and not the JB KWIK. while the Kwik setup in a few minutes verses hours for the JB WELD, i have found that JB WELD is a very good product.

one other tip, if you are trying to epoxy to a smooth plastic surface you will have much better bonding with any glue or epoxy if you scuff the surface so the epoxy has a better surface to bond to and will much less likely to come un-glued :)
