should I be looking for something better, or am I getting into the next best thing. I really want to stop smoking cigs, but find I am not getting enough nicotine from the ecig. I am using 12 mg, but in order to stop the cravings I seem to need at least 5 cigs a day. I am getting confused as to whether I should use higher strength, a better e cig, or just give it time, have only been vaping for 10 days.

Any thoughts or suggestions welcome.

Thanks:(

I started with an 801 and still use it, only thing is I started with 24mg and have dropped to 12mg over a year and a half. I'd get some 18 and 24 and try them, just get 10ml sample bottles because the 24mg may too much for you. While your waiting for the stuff to arrive, have you checked the ECF Library? Tons of good stuff in an organized manner, it also explains about nic levels too.

801 is fine. Not as popular a threading as 510 or KR808D-1, not as much stuff available for it, few direct large battery upgrades. Some people like 801 atomizers a lot for dripping (on manual batteries only). I have never tried 801.

I don't know if there are manual batteries for 801. Most people here use and recommend manuals - safer from being danaged or killed by juices leaks and easier to get a good hit.

10-12mg is a level similar to ultralight cigs. You could try 16-18mg. Or just try other juices. What PG/VG are you using? PG lets through the most flavor and the most of nicotine's TH and irritation. VG dulls everything PG lets through and makes thicker visible vapor. I used to use 70PG/30VG but now that I am using cartomizers I find 80PG/20Vg keeps them working well longer, especially light clear juices that leave little or no flavoring sediment.

Remember to smell the vapor - most of the flavor is in the aroma, same as with food. if your juices don't make you feel ahhh then try other juices.

Clean your atomizers - atomizers will get gunked up and weaker if you don't keep them clean.

Try cartomizers.

A slightly stronger slim model might be a KR808D-1 - check out SmokelessImage Volt. The manuals (available in some colors) and totally sealed though their button is tiny. I recommend their 78mm batteries. You can use a plastic or delrin dip tip (LiteCigUSA.net) as a mouthpiece on the carto if you like a slimmer end. Vapor4Life is another KR808D-1 you could look at and I recommend their standard size manuals. They have a mostly sealed end on the manuals, a larger button that is easier to press, but do not have the rubberized coating of the Volt. These are real 3.7v minis and they are 2-piece (use cartomizers). Keep a carto damp and it will be good for 4-7 days or more. To test juices on manual batteries, use a DSE901 atomizer and the same 510/901/KR808D-1 drip tip I mentioned above (dripping on an atomizer is not recommended for auto batteries) The KR808D-1 models can use cartos from Vapor4Life (some of their flavors are overdone but I love some), SmokelessImage, Bloogplanet, Halocigs G6

To see even bigger models with long battery life. go to Liberty-Flights.com, press the 20% off upper left front page, then look at Riva 510 and Ego. These use 510 threaded stuff. Boge blank cartomizers are the most popular cartomizers. Few prefilled cartomizers are available for 510. These fat battery models and other can also use the hotter low resistance atomizers and cartomizers.

Thanks, I have some 18 mg but guess I bought the wrong flavour as I really did not like it, I will check out the library, but am starting to feel a bit overloaded with info.

wow thank you for such a long and informative reply. The 801 is a manual battery, and the cartomizers (the cartridges that came with it?) are a fairly good size I think. I am using straight PG but have found that most of the flavours are awful, today I am trying a fruit mix which is okay. I will check out the websites you suggested, and keep trying to make this work.

Thanks for all this information.

Well the 801 uses a cartridge (cart) and atomizer (atty), not a cartomizer (carto), I prefer the 801 over the 510 or 901 because it holds 1.2ml of liquid while the others only holds .6ml. I use a syringe to fill my carts from the bottom up, it helps eliminate air pockets and gets it completely full, and I usually refill a bunch in one sitting that way if I need to run I just grab a few carts and an extra batt and I'm off. Mad Vapes has the best selection of syringes, I use a 5ml with an 18ga needle, makes easy to refill without a mess. Heaven Gifts has replacement parts for the 801 at a price, but they're in China, I used them for almost two years without any problems. Just remember that if you order from Heaven Gifts to select EMS shipping, the others are unbelievably slow. They also carry Dekang e-liquid which is the only one I use.

So that explains the sort of whistling sound I get, Itake the filling out and fill the cart part way, put the filler back in and then put some more on top, so do you still take the filling out? Which flavour liquid do you use? Sorry for all the questions.

That's ok, I leave the filler in and stick a syringe down the side till it bottoms out then slowly fill until I see the liquid at the top, you don't want to let it pool or you'll flood the atty. I prefer the tobacco flavors, at present I'm vaping 555 from Dekang. If you order some juice and carts from Heavens Gifts you can get a syringe from there also, just look under E-cigarette DIY and their called E-juice injectors, only cost $.60. And remember to use EMS shipping, it usually takes just about a week to arrive, the one time I selected Air Mail it took a month to get here.

I use mostly 801 atomizers and cartomizers. They just don't do well on small 3.7 volt batteries like you have. Plus 12mg strength liquid just does not get it done for most trying to transition to vaping.

I would strongly suggest moving up to 24mg strength liquid and adjusting the strength over time, first. Second, I would definitely consider getting a better PV. 801's do much better on a good 5 volt or variable volt PV. Much better consistency and much warmer vapor. I would suggest you look at these two if you really want to quit smoking:

5 volt GLV2: Electronic Cigarettes and E-Liquid - Great Lakes Vapor

Variable volt Darwin: Nhaler

All 801's are not created equal. For atomizers, I would suggest you try either the BE112 (801) atty from Liberty Flights or the mini-801 from IKenvape. For 801 cartomizers I would suggest the ones from MadVapes.

But the true key is getting a better battery PV such as the ones mentioned and upping your nicotine strength.

Good Luck
