808 PT problem

I got a manual 901 PT awhile ago (traded) and finally got an adapter so I could use my 510 attys on it. Well, I've only used it about 3 hours, had it plugged in 2 hours when I noticed a funny smell. Looked down and saw the unit "smoking" out the cart end. The light was off, the button not depressed, yet it was on and very hot. I unplugged it, let it cool off, and plugged it back in. Tried vaping on it again, then removed the cart to see that it was still on and the atty was cherry red inside as if I were pressing the button. Is there a way to fix this, or should I just junk it?

I had a passthru from a different manufacturer do something similar to this as well.

It was constantly on. It would turn off when I pressed the button. I blew it out with some canned air in any place I could find an opening and it went back to normal.

Good idea. I should try that, wonder if my canned air will cause a problem though, it's lemon scented. I would've bought unscented if it were available.
