The "gunk" is most probably coming from your lips in a form of dried up peeling skin etc.
I often get it as well,on the other materials yes...Just not as obvious due to non glossy surfaces?
But hey,since it's placed on my lips on a daily( hourly for me ;P ) i guess wiping it down every other vape is ok?
At most just take it as an beneficial OCD habit!
