So what is the final verdict the Hobo v3-----good or bad----hahahahahah
Why verticle?
The real hobo has a deck, a drip well that threads, and an outer barrel that slips on from underneath. This particular device has the drip well and outer barrel connected as one piece. This wouldn't be a huge deal except if you screw on the outer barrel it does not line up properly with the air hole.
If you unscrew it enough so it does line up its very wobbly and doesn't look right. Like I said, it's junk
Yeah, but is it any good? Finally got this delivered today, the black version, and... it is indeed a piece of Chinese garbage.
Like mentioned by others, the threaded cap is a bit of a disaster. Just... ugh. The airholes don't line up at all when the cap is screwed on all the way, and IF you screw the cap on past a certain point, there is no backing it out without taking the whole damn thing off your mod, and grasping the 510 connection with a pliers for leverage. Don't even attempt to get it to sit flush on your REO with the threaded cap on to grasp, you'll just end up taking it off and going through the pliers process I just described. Just don't. You're going to need to use a tool, or your finger and some elbow grease, and use the negative post to get the last turns down on the base of the atty to your mod, then, and only then attempt to screw on the cap LIGHTLY until you feel enough resistance where it won't move so easily, and line up the airholes. If you mess up your build/wicking whilst grabbing on to the negative post to get the base on... well... try try again.
I threw two builds into it. First a .25Ω, then quickly threw that away and replaced with a .55Ω.
The BF pin is nearly at coil height. All it accomplishes is dumping juice into the well, with no evacuation. Better than that stupid thing I'd once seen called the Big Dripper, but kind of a failure in the same ways. The coils also sit pretty damn high off the deck to meet the airflow, so, I needed to wick my coils with WAY more cotton than I'd normally ever use in a bottom feeding atty, and with it all stuffed underneath the high sitting coils to soak it up. Seeing as this RDA will basically never squonk to saturate the actual coils, but more or less just dump juice into a bed of cotton, you can forget anything below say .5Ω (1Ω per coil) being able to wick up fast enough. I settled on building it the same way I do with my Origin dripper... a cooler vape that relies on wicking, which don't get me wrong is okay at times, but that's not why I use a REO. If you want to lung bust this atty with lower builds, or minimally wick like a true bottom feed RDA, you're just going to have to drip directly on the coils I'm afraid, or else you're going to have a very unsaturated vape and a much higher chance of dry hits.
Sure, it does actually vape pretty damn well, but honestly, what traditional adjustable side airflow RDA messes up that sort of thing up when you have a good build in it anyways, am I right? I will also say, being my first "black" atty, I am sold on those aesthetics BIG TIME. It looks sexy as hell on my black wrinkle/silver vein. Can't believe it took me this long to see that... oh yeah.. I do think this is the first black bottom fed atty I've ever seen where it was sitting there for me to purchase. So I guess kudos for that??
However, it's WAY too much of a hassle to get all together. It doesn't squonk in the true sense either. You might as will top drip blindly through the drip tip by squirting, not dripping, juice by the ml into the chamber. I can't even imagine having to take off the cap and direct coil drip into this thing if it weren't on top of squonker. Good grief...
A $9 gamble, and I lost. I'll vape it to the point where it needs new cotton, and then into the drawer it goes, because I am not going through the process of putting this thing together more than once. It's frankly not better than anything else I currently own, outside of it's looks. If the squonk hole were just above the positive post assembly, the well less deep, and the airholes lower so the coils could sit closer to the deck, this would be an amazing bottom fed RDA. But, as you just read, I basically criticized every last thing about this atty but it's looks. lol
Avoid this one fellow Reonauts. I started the topic with decent intentions, but yeah... just avoid this atty.
Cheers
