901/808 Adapter keeps stripping

Thank you, revered veterans, for your help in advance.
I'm totally at a loss. I've been purchasing atomizers and cartos that need the 901/808 adapters. I have a 510 fitted Super T P18 and P16. I'm going through almost 1 adapter a day then I have to pitch it because either it's stripped or some other reason that it's not making the connection. Any ideas on what I'm doing wrong??? I don't think I'm screwing them on too tight but who knows?
I love the products but at this rate will have to go back to 510 products.

Are you adjusting them with the screwy thing in the center?That helps them make contact sometimes.

I think so.....isn't that the only way to get them on?

you screw them on,then adjust the center post,it has a slot for a flat head screwdriver to adjust the post up and down.That controls contact and airflow.
