I'm a 510 user (and Tornado) but purchased a 901 kit recently. It came with auto batts, and since I like to drip, my marital unit is using the 901. Almost daily he comes to me saying vaping sucks and he just got a horrible taste. (He isn't doing his own maintenance yet, as I'm still trying to get him hooked on vaping by taking care of everything for him. Once he's hooked, I'll had over maintenance of his stuff to him). So about once a day, I see that the cart filling is completely out of the cart and stuck to the atty. I first thought it must be something I was doing wrong in refilling and replacing his carts, so I started using the brand new pre-filled carts that came with our starter kit to see if that fixed the problem. It made no difference, filler still comes out after a few hours and sticks to the atty.

I've searched the forum to the best of my ability...the search feature and I aren't very well acquainted yet, and can't find this problem anywhere on ECF. Has anyone else experienced this with the 901? I've never had it happen on our 510's, even the disposables with the auto batts.

Any advice or admonishment is greatly appreciated! He really really likes the 901 cos he plays guitar and says he can hold it in his mouth easier than any of my 510's, and he likes the auto battery cos he can vape hands free while he strums.

Thanks much! Ya'll are awesome!

Don't ever twist the cart after it has been installed on the atty. Push it straight on, and pull it straight off.

More times than not, that technique alone will solve the problem.

P.S. The DSE901 carts that I get (genuine SLB flat tip units) actually have the filler "glued into" the cart. Kinda hard to get that stuff out.

Thanks Scott. I'm very careful never to twist the carts, learned that lesson really well when I was using the PTB method.

I know the white "glue" stuff you are referring to, as that has been the case with all of my 510 carts, but for some reason, these 901 carts (not sure if they are SLB, I don't think so, but they are the flat tips) don't have that glue stuff? If I'm going out, I use highping's simple cart mod which rocks instead of dripping, and I cut the glue stuff off anyway, but never have had that issue with my 510's. Hmmmm......

Thanks for your response though Scott! Any other thoughts?

Make sure the cart is filled the whole way down.

If only the top is wet, from quickly filling the cart, the dry bottom will allow the filling to slide out. Liquid at the bottom will create a suction that holds the filling in the cart.

Take a toothpick and compress the filling when you fill it. Force the liquid to the bottom of the cart.

If it is still a problem, give the filling a hair cut, taking a bit off the top so its not pressing so hard on the atty, just making contact.

As a loyal 901 user for over a year now, I concur with the above opinions. Don't twist, keep it wet all the way to the bottom (I use narrow tweezers or a toothpick to make sure all the air bubbles are out) and trim all the hairy stragglers down to just below the edge of the cart. Be sure and get a magnifying glass and take a look down inside the atomizer to make sure you pull off any hairs that have stuck to the mesh of the wick also. They can give a real bad taste when they get stuck down there.

I've never seen a 510 cart with glue. Strange.

Scott, your posts on ECF have been a huge help to me from the beginning, so when you said this, I thought I must be crazy. So I began opening carts I had on hand.....conclusion follows:

901 prefilled carts that came with starter kit from Zapcigs......glue

901 prefilled carts from Madvapes....no glue.

510 blank carts from Madvapes......no glue.

Because I already think I'm losing my mind most of the time, I have to take every opportunity these days to prove to myself that my mind is (at least at times) still intact. Ha. So I ordered another disposable 510 kit from Madvapes, opened a prefilled cart that came with it, and smiled. GLUE!

My household began our vaping with 510 disposable kits from MV, then I would just wash out and refill those instead of buying more, so I just this week opened my first 510 cart that didn't have glue.

Apparently, it depends on more than where the carts come from or what kind they are, as to whether they are glued or not. (Useless information anyway, I know. lol)

ALSO, I started watching my MU (marital unit) when he was using his 901, and you were right. He was absent mindedly twisting the cart, causing the filler to come out and stick to the atty.

So all is well that ends well! I really appreciate all the wonderful people on this forum. I feel sure I wouldn't have made it through the "learning curve" without the advice, tips, and encouragement from ya'll!!
