901 or 510?

If given a choice between the 901 atty or the 510 atty, which would you choose and why? I understand 510 is more common, but are there any reasons one would use a 901 instead?

To make this less cryptic I'm looking at a unit that comes with a 901 atty but can be custom fitted to use the 510 instead. I'm trying to decide whether to go with the standard or have the 510 fitted.

I recently bought a bulk of Joye atty's. Half were 510's, half 901's. Both LR's. I'm running them on several mods at 3.7v and VV with a 510-808 adapter. The 901's are a warmer vape, hold 4 drops of juice when I drip, and produce more flavor. The 510's work, but I'm really liking the 901's a whole lot better.

If I were buying a new unit and had a choice of connector I'd still choose a 510. It's kind of becoming the standard these days so it will give you more options in the future. Pick up an adapter or two and you're all set to use 901's or 808 carto's on it.

+1 on getting an adapter. I've bought or made all my mods with 510 connections, and have bought adapters to be able to use any 401, 4081, 306, 510 (extension), 801, 808D-1, 901, ego, or go-go atty or carto. I can try any new carto or atty at 3.2v, 3.7v or 5v to see where it works best and with what juice, for your taste.

The battery connection is only that, a way to supply power, the adapters give you flexibility.

To me the 510 really seems like the way to go because it appears to be the most common. Adapters are great but one thing I'd suggest is to try and buy them from the manufacturer of the mod you're going to be using them on. I bought a 901 adapter for my Provari from a random supplier and it was pretty hard to screw on and now everything I screw into it appears to lean slightly. I've compared 901 and 510 atomizers a bit and there might be slightly more flavor with the 901 but to me it's a trade off because the hole in the side (not sure if they all have this as I can't see the point of it but mine had it...) makes the vapor more airy.

From my experiments with 801, 901, and 510 atomizers I believe that the 901 gives a slight flavor boost while reducing throat hit a bit.

(I used 4 different people in my experiment everyone, except myself, did the comparisons blind and with the same juice.)

I agree with with the above post. Either get the 901 and get the 510 adaptor or visa versa. either way it will give you the flexability to try different things. That is what I did with the 901 pv I have. I got an adaptor for it and am using it as an 510 device. There are lots of places that carry the adaptor. Just make sure you get the right one for instance if you are planning on getting the 901 kit make sure the adaptor says 901/510. If you are planning on getting the 510 make sure the adaptor reads 510/901.

901 threading has much less stuff available for it. Try to find cartomizers for 901. It's hard to find manual batteries for 901 and the nice 901 PCC cases I've seen don't accept manual batteries. Most people here use and recommend manual batteries.

I did try 901 attys on KR808D-1 manual batteries and my main problems were
- I could not successfully make blue foam stuffing for the carts (so I mostly dripped on 901)
- if the atomizer is twisted on a bit too far, the barrel of the atomizer rotated around its threaded end, blocking its side air inlet with some kind of plastic armature in the coil compartment, ruining the airflow
- incredibly hard to clean - the coil compartment was a near fortress
- liquid drips out the air inlet and down the side of the atty onto your fingers

If you get a 510 you can stick a 510 to 901 adapter on it and try 901 attys.

I really like the 306 atomizer (510 threads). For me, the only reason to buy a 901 connection would be to buy pre-filled cartomizers for it.

If the custom fitting is more expensive, however, you can always look comparison shop with the cost of a mini 808-> 510 adapter. (808 and 901 are thread-compatible).

You all are simply magnificent! I've decided on a 510 connection based on the prevailing advice here. I also just did a random search for 901 "stuff" just to see how hard it was to find. It certainly doesn't seem to be in abundance.

This will actually be my second unit. My first one (which I love and has gotten me off the analogs) is an automatic and I really would like to try a manual battery, plus I want more vapor! I'm not even sure what the first one is, it's a "Vapor King eTank." I figure it can be my backup or something.

I think I just might be addicted to this stuff LOL!

I beleave the best choise is going to the 510 one

Settle on your system? Are you kidding? Every time something new comes along I gotta have it. I'm on my 6th upgrade and I've only been vaping for 3 months. I hope I settle on something soon.

But it's true, if you can restrain yourself and not buy everything you see, vaping is a lot cheaper than smoking.
