901/RN4075 whistling sound

So i got some of these and they make a whistle sound when I puff them.

Can I drill open the air hole on the side to lessen this distracting sound?

Or will this kill them or reduce the performance? I may try it any way.

Or is there another way to fix this issue?

I'd be real careful, I stuck a paper clip in one of mine (I guess too far). Junk now.
