So I'm finally moving into the world of mechs (slowly) and I feel like I've gone down a rabbit hole with all the information about batteries. I overpaid for one at a B & M Friday, as per my usual way, but after doing some searching online I see there are way more affordable options and my instant gratification will have to take a back seat to practicality.
My questions: are there any safe, acceptable brands besides the typical Sony, Panasonic, Samsung?
How many should I start with - I'm thinking four? I only have one mod that needs them but will be getting another one in the next week or so.
I'm a little scared of Ebay, but also on a budget. But also want to stay safe.
Jeez. I never would have thought I'd devote this much time and energy to batteries, barring the zombie apocalypse.

Most of us are preparing for that or an FDA ban, whichever comes first.

These sites seem reasonably priced and were recommended to me. Once you find the batteries you want, one of these may be a good place to purchase them:

RTD Vapor or Illumn

I do just fine with 2 batteries (per mod), charge/switch batteries every evening or sometimes two. I'm very comfortable with my AW IMR batteries, got them from RTD. In 18650 batteries, the AW 18650 1600 mAH battery is rated at (I believe, check for yourself) 24 Amps continuous, so it's a pretty safe bet for reasonable usage.
