Hi all. I've been using a couple of baby beast tanks with both the SMOKTech TFV8 Baby Beast coils and some Motofo replacement coils. My two main complaints are leakage, with what I presume is due in part to the bottom airflow design, and the HUGE juice requirements. Of course the leakage adds to the latter problem but primarily it is just that sub-ohm coils just suck up the juice.

So, I am looking for a top air flow tank with reasonably priced replacement coils. (I hate building coils. I'm just too lazy)

What are the best choices that you have found fit these parameters?

Thanks all........Olin

Bottom airflow are more prone to leaking but good tanks don't leak if properly maintained. I would stay away from SMOK, quality control less than stellar for sure. I have Vaporesso NRG, Cascade and Skrr none leak. The NRG is almost bullet proof.

Top airflow tanks that I really like for flavor and not leaking, the Aspire Revvo Aspire Revvo Tank - Aspire® Official Site. The drip tip design seems to accumulate condensation. The coil is 1.6 ohms, I vape it anywhere from 40 to 70W depending on the juice. The coils have good longevity and really great flavor. My only negative comment is it's capacity of only 3.6ml, I vape 16ml per day on average. If I remember correctly the Baby Beast is only 3ml so maybe 3.6ml would a good change for you.

You could look at the Vaporesso Veco Devil for the top air flow. It uses the EUC coils which are about $6.00 for a pack of five and are readily available at most online stores. The Veco Devil is available at Eightvape for $14.99.

I like it. Thanks for the suggestion. Have you tried both the traditional and the ceramic coils? And if so, what did you wind up preferring?

Right now 0.25 at 50-55 watts but I really don't have a set preference. Just what I happen to have on hand.
Vaporesso Cascade baby 6.5ml tank with mesh coils at .18 Ohms. Superb flavour, never leaks, the coils just go and go. My last coil had been running for over 7 weeks before a change :) Probably needed a change sooner it was black and gunky...but to be honest the flavour wasn't too bad!!

Although its an older tank (proven) and has bottom airflow, I have to give a shout out to my all time favorite/current tanks, the Original Uwell Crown Clearomizer Tank.

I have four up and running at all times, and I have never had issues with leaking. (One time I left my setup lying flat in a hot car's seat and it leaked a couple of ml of e-liquid from the air holes, but that was user error on me.)

Wide range of coil resistances to choose from with a wide range of wattage ranges.
  • 1.2 ohm Single Stainless Steel Uwell Crown Coil - 10 to 30W
  • 0.5 ohm Dual Stainless Steel Uwell Crown Sub-Ohm Coil - 30 to 80W
  • 0.25 ohm Dual Stainless Steel Uwell Crown Sub-Ohm Coil - 80 to 120W
  • 0.15 ohm Dual Ni200 Nickel Uwell Crown Sub-Ohm Coil - 400 to 600 Degrees Fahrenheit (temp control)
  • Replacement Coils - Pack of 4
I can't speak for the Crown 2, 3, or Valarian tanks, but I do know they all use much higher wattage settings than I use.

I like to use Temperature Control so I use the ceramic coils. I would imagine the traditional claptons would work as well. The Devil meets requirements for top air flow, but as @charlie1465 mentioned, the Cascade Baby is a much better tank. Even though it has bottom air, mine has never leaked on me. The GT coils produce great flavor and vapor and seem to last a really long time. I don't believe you'd regret buying the Cascade Baby.

Huge juice requirements are sort of standard in dL vapes. If you want to go to a MTL vape your juice requirements will go down substantially but so will the clouds. The current favorite MTL clears tank around here is the innokin zenith which is also known for long coil life

I decided to try this one first in order to lower my insane juice usage. I've been buying a couple of 120ml bottles every few days it seems. Anyway, I got the tank yesterday afternoon, primed it, and been vaping it ever since. I really really like it. I actually prefer MTL style even using the baby beast tank. I am going to use this for a while. If I get tired of it or run into issues I'll probably try the Vaporesso tanks. I really appreciate everyones input. All of these suggestions are in my list of things to try (and spend money on) now.

You can get ready made coils and just have to wick and screw them down, that would greatly widen the spectrum of tanks you could use and more accurately dial in how much juice you use. There's also ready made cotton bits with a shoelace end to make wicking a breeze.

Granted that's not for everyone but certainly is something to try on your quest to find the perfect vape, there's so many great and reasonably priced single coil tanks and simple round wire premade coils are very cheap as well (eg I've seen 100pc for 2.70€, that can last you years).

Yes, sub-ohm vaping is a waste of juice big time. I did it for years. I am going back to MTL type of vaping. I remember when I first started vaping 30mls would last me about two weeks. With subohm vaping it was lasting me 2 days.

I do build my own coils. But before I went back to MTL vaping I tried out a cheap little MTL tank. The Aspire K3. It holds 2mls of juice. I bought it to see if I would like the feel of a MTL and if it was something doable. I use a 9mg ejuice for MTL vaping. SInce I do like MTL vaping, I bought a DDP One V2. It's a high end single coil genesis style atomizer. I got real tired of low quality chinese vaping products. Things like Smok, Vapresso, and all those mass produced products that barely last a year.

I'm curious as to why certain people on this site choose to recommend that people switch to mtl vaping. I realize there are a lot of older mtl vapers on this site, but because that's your style doesn't mean it's better or for everyone. Vaping is so personalized, it's all about what works for the individual. I'm DL and unless I'm chain vaping I don't burn through absurd amounts of juice.

I think that many new vapers who are attempting to quit smoking will inadvertantly start out with a DTL tank, not knowing the difference between MTL and DTL. MTL is most like smoking with its more restricted draw. A new vaper may get overwhelmed with a DTL tank innitually. I think that is why vets will recommend the MTL tanks. The rationale is to provide an experience that is more like smoking to make the transition from smoking to vaping easier. My :2c:

I fully understand the differences between the two styles. My issue is that the op didn't mention anything about not being satisfied with the quality of his vape or not getting a satisfying hit. The moment he mentioned going through a huge amount of juice the mtl vapers see the opportunity to convert another new vaper imo. That tank and coil set up is notorious for being juice hogs, there are a lot of good sub ohm dl tanks that aren't as bad.
