Hey all.

I'm a newb to e-cigs and was looking for a little guidance. This is proving to be way more complicated than I had anticipated.

I guess before I ask my questions, a little background is in order to save time from responders from having to ask me basic things.

I am 32 years old and started smoking at the age of 13. Started smoking a pack a day since 18 and continue to this day. I have managed to quit updwards of 3 years thanks to the Wellbutrin, but I picked them back up.

I am sick of cigarettes, and am seeing what they do to my body, keeping me from eating and now I am losing way too much weight.

I did a quick google search and found a site that offered a "free" e-cigarette, only requiring me to pay shipping. I entered my information, but became weary at the last minute before I hit "submit". Because frankly, the website seemed a bit scammish, and there was nowhere on it to order refills, which made me very suspicious.

What made me even more suspicious, was that after I entered my info, I started getting calls from these people asking why I changed my mind. How did they know my info if I didn't even click submit? Luckily I didn't key in my CC number into the form.

Anyway, I'd love a recommendation for a good long lasting e-cig that can take the place of the pack a day Marlboro Lights habit I've had for so long. Hopefully to help me eventually quit completely but if not, that's okay, at least I won't be breathing in smoke.

I'd love any advice or links you guys have to offer. There is just too much info out there, and sifting through the BS isn't easy.

First off, welcome to the forum and GOOD JOB not falling for the "free" scam.
In my opinion, you can't go wrong with the eGo/Riva/Tornado. It uses a 510 atomizer but has a larger battery and a longer battery life. If you're worried about money, Tasty Vapor has them for cheap (they are not authentic, hints why they're so cheap) If you're looking for authentic Joye, I suggest Cignot your Midwest Electronic Cigarette store. . Wonderful customer service from them.

Hey Javyn....and welcom to ECF! I'm pretty new here too, but the support and advice you will get here will be superb.

There is actually a thread about not ordering free trials some where on this forum....you were very wise to not enter your CC number!

I would suggest going to read the FAQ section first, then delve into other threads to get educated. It is a LOT to absorb and it did take me about two weeks before I felt like I was STARTING to understanding the info. Slow and steady is my pace! I do feel now I have enough info to make the best choice for my next PV....I started out with an NPro and it's OK but it did leave me wanting for much more. And after I bought the darn thing, I found out I could get a far superior product for LESS money. Live and learn!

Good luck to you....I've cut down to half a pack of real cigs per day and I can't even tell you what a difference that's made already. I'm excited and optimistic about putting them away for GOOD and becoming a full time vaper!

The forum suppliers list is a good place to start, they are trusted and legitimate venders.
Most on here will tell you to get an EGo kit to start with.
They dont look like a cig, but the battery will outlast any cig type kit out there.
They are also a great kit . Cignot.com is my favorite vender for jenuine joye Egos.
They also carry the cig like 510 kits, made by Joye and all the parts for both kits work together.
The Ego is carried by other venders too. Most are reliable and fast to ship.

What ever kit you choose, be sure to order lots of extra liquid for it and attyomizers
as they are disposable and will go bad at the most inconveinant time !

E liquid favorite venders on here are Tasty Vapor, Ms Ts Bakery, Vaporbomb,
Backwoods brew, DYI Flavorshack, There are lots of them.

Taste is subjective so it will take a bit to find your favorites.

Good thing you didnt click submit LOL>
Ask lots of questions and read read read here, and you will make the best choice for you:)

Sooo glad you didn't fall for the "free" deal.

As recommended, visit ECF Library and then look in the social groups for ECF Library Annex.

Yes, I know it's a lot of reading but it will clear up so much for you.

By the way, welcome and believe it or not you'll eventually feel like you can at least tread water in the vaping world.

Hi Jav - I am a noob as well and felt the same way as you. As the others have said, DO NOT do the free trial thingy. I bought a Gold Vapor starter kit at a local smoke shop. It is ok, doing the job, but I have ordered from Puresmoker.com an eGo starter kit. They are a well regarded site. I got a great deal from them as did others here on the ECF. There are many other reputable sites too. Hang in there, read the forum, and ask questions too if you need too. There are always people here to help. Good luck and hopefully you will be vaping soon! As a 30+ year smoker i have only had 2 tobacco cigs in the the last week. Vaping is so much better.

Downright spooky.

The default noobie recommendation used to be a basic 510 kit which can be had for $30-$35. Lately the eGo(or clone) is more often recommended because folks tend to quickly tire of the 510s short battery life and outgrow it for that reason, and the price difference is only about $15-$20 as opposed to $40 like it used to be. I don't see how you can go wrong with an eGo, Riva or clone. For a first purchase I would recommend a stateside vendor that offers some kind of warranty though. Lately the price point for these is around $50 on sale, and there's always someone who has them on sale.

Being impatient and wanting to get off the analogs RIGHT NOW, I've started with the 2-piece system (KR808D-1) for simplicity's sake. I buy the cartomizers, screw 1 onto the battery and go...I quickly learned you do need atleast 2 batteries, though, so you can always have 1 charged and ready. All the info can be confusing for noob's like us but atleast this way I can still vape 'til I determine what I might like once I figure more out.

Good luck and welcome!

That's a great way to look at it :) It is a learning process, sometimes you have to crawl before you can walk. I just sold my first e-cig in classifieds because I learned that what I liked in the beginning is not what I prefer now. I am thankful for that first e-cig cause it helped me along the way :)

I'll tell you my story and hopefully it will help you. I was in the same boat three weeks ago. I was fed up with smoking, the smelly clothes, standing outside the bar while my friends were having fun inside, being looked at like some social outcast everytime I slipped away for a smoke.

So I started researching ecigs and almost and I mean almost pulled the trigger on a Blu setup(whew, glad I didn't). Then during my search I found this site and I started reading and reading and reading. Now three weeks later I am finally ready to purchase my first real PV setup. But it took me that long to absorb enough information to make me feel confident enough to take the plunge.

So keep smoking the analogs, a few more weeks won't kill you, and read. Start out in the library. Read the Dom's guide to vaping, read about the different models and battery life and how much ml a cart can hold. Read about carts and cartos, research Eliquid and best places to buy from. Stay away from mods for now until you're comfortable (I know I'm not!). Then decide what one is best for you, order your set up and give it a try. If it doesn't do it for you, research more and try again. I ready, and you'll be too. Just don't rush into buying something you'll throw away in a couple of days because you didn't like it. ;)
