Apologies this is a long read. Wanted to get as indepth as possible. As the title says this is a complete breakdown of my vaping costs aswell as a sort of guide of when i took the next step in vaping. I have also included a comparison of costs between vaping and smoking at the bottom. Took me the better part of 3 hours to do, so some feedback would be appreciated :p

Total Spent in 6.5 months £417/$671. Couldn't be assed to work out the dollars for each piece :p

As far as Vaping cost to date t is concerned we can knock off the purchases made on the 18th November. I still have 250ml of juice sitting here and several Iclear 16's. Taking off those leaves us with £321/$517. As said I still have supplies for another 1 Month Approx so let's call this total cost for 7.5 months. When we bring this figure down to cost by day we get £1.42/$2.29. Another thing to consider when looking at this figure is that this is the supplies for 2 people as I buy all the stuff for me and mother. So we can half this number, actually that's not really fair as I use a lot more supplies than mother so for me I recon £1/$1.61 a day is about the average.

Ofc if we where to consider all the stuff that was bought that was unnecessary this price would drop dramatically. The 90ml e-liquid at the top for example was never really used. Horrible fast tech gunk. The CE4 Clearomizers gave off burnt plastic taste from day one so never used. The second VIVI nova would have been unnecessary had the first one not leaked like a motherf.....The EVOD fell apart on day 1. The MVP was bought only to use until I got my replacement VAMO back from fasttech. The E-lites where utterly....Well I think you know.

Just for fun let's do it. Take off all unnecessary costs and leave us with the utopian vapors paradise. I am gonna keep the Ego Starter kit on there because it did serve me well and I used it for a bit. In the absolute perfect world in which I made zero mistakes and nothing went wrong the cost would work out to £228/$367. which works out at £1.01/$1.63 Per day. As I have said before I used the majority of the supplies so call it 70p/$1.13 per day.

But now we get into the comparison section of the wall of text. If I was to compare these costs to cigarette smoking where would I be. I was pretty good with the cigs. I got some duty free tobacco and it cost me a whopping £9 for 50g. I was on 50g a week so £36/$58 a month. Add in the cost for filter and papers...Let's call it an even £40/$64. In 7.5 months I would have spent £300/$483

Smoking £300/$483
Vaping £321/$517

Now you may be thinking oww no the humanity vaping costs more but wait there's a twist. I was a smart chap and bought cheap tobacco mother was not as wise and was on 2PAD. Costing a Whopping £15/$24 Per Day. On bad days this could rise to 3PAD £22.50/$36.24 but let's leave it at 2PAD to keep it simple.

So £15/$24 per day, £450/$724 Per month, in 7.5 months this would equate to ....Drumroll please! £3375/$5435

So let's revisit the comparison after this revelation.

Smoking £3675/$5918
Vaping £321/$516 Less than 1/10th of the cost.

And the icing on the cake is, I don't have to worry about mother dying in her sleep anymore. Seriously that cough she had was scary.

I tried to put it dollar conversions where I could to make it an easier read for you guys but I am writing this at 10 in the morning and I haven't been to bed yet. Apologies for any spelling mistakes or there, they're, their, to, too, two, know, no, where, were, we're, your, you're. I honestly couldn't give a toss at this point :p

For all those courageous enough to get to the end I thank you. It took me a good 2-3 hours to check my statements, receipts, paypal history and write this all up. I always wanted to see a breakdown like this on the forums when I first starting vaping as I was concerned of the costs. To all the people just starting off on their journey I hope that this is a revelation, relief and an incentive for you to quit the stinkies for good.

I would also just like to add a thankyou to all those who have given me advice these past few months. As you can see this is not just a breakdown of costs it is a vaping journey that is why i listed the dates. Each step that i took from getting my first kit, to buying my first mod, to DIYing liquids to deciding on tanks and finally starting rebuildables is thanks to the advice i got on these forums. While i do not recommend people to start DIYing liquid so quickly i assure you I did quite a lot of research before taking each step and i urge anyone reading this to do the same.

I don't have an exact list of what I have bought but when I calculated a few weeks ago I was certain I was in under $400. Since then I spent another $50. I am at 6 months of no tobacco cigarettes which would be $540 if all I bought would have been generic which it wouldn't have been but I figure overestimate what I have spent and under estimate what I would have spent gives me the minimum of savings possible.

So I am already about $90 up and since some of those costs were DIY and rebuildable materials I could go a year with minimal if any costs. I probably will spend more over the year but I'm not going to out pace what I would have spent. However I am thinking of going over to all cartotanks so I will have to buy cartos but what I used to spend on smokes in a day I can use cartos for more than a week.

I am in the same boat atm penn. With my rebuildables i shouldnt have any cost for tanks for the forseeable future and the last batch of e-liquid i bought will make 1000ml of 6mg str nic. I always buy the supplies for 1000ml at a time. This time i am actually gonna keep my new supplies aside until my old ones are empty as i would like to know how long 1000ml lasts me....Its hard to calculate daily intake when it varies so much. Especially on a work day as i only get 2 vape breaks.

Good post. I imagine most who are considering vaping as a substitute for smoking will do as most of us did, try to stay cheap until you know it will work. Then a little quick math proves that spending a little more up front is still cheaper and get better toys. I am still new and waiting for the break even point, but then, MORE TOYS!
