I am new to vaping. I get my first one tommorow so forgive me in advance if any of this sounds dumb. I just want to be safe.

It's a joyetech eGo AIO. (not a mod) It's meant to come with a variety of safety features like over-charging, over-discharge and short-circuit protection.

Now it supports 1.5ohm Clapton (MTL), 1ohm SS 316, 0.6ohm SS 316, 0.5ohm SS 316 and 0.2ohm Ni200 coils.

By default you get two 0.6 coils with it. It has inside a 1500mAH battery and volts are 3.7 to 4.2 depending on how charged the battery is. And it is around 15 to 28 wattage.

Now i'm being told by some vapers ( not the company who sold it or joyetech ) that to be safe that i shouldn't be firing anything below 1 ohm.

And yet most folks using this are using the default 0.6 or going to 0.5 ( 0.6 being the recommended by joyetech and the company who sold it to me )

So based on what you know above.

1. What are your thoughts on the 0.6 OHM it comes with and what do you think i should be using and why?

2. Will using the default 0.6 lead to any type of explosion? ( battery does not come out and it has lots of safety but i have to ask you guys who are experts ) Note: i will not be carrying it around with me in my pocket or anywhere. It will sit on the side at home for use throughout the day.

Thanks kindly

Your mod/tank/AIO is designed to work with whatever coils that came with it, period. Those vapers who told you are completely wrong, period.

Charge it up, prime your coil, put in some juice, and start vaping. That's all you need to do.

okay thank you.

Just out of curiosity. Why ignore what people say about OHM law? Isn't it important to know?

As for battery hysteria. I think it's because of the news reports. Better to be safe than sorry, right?
It is if you are making your own coils to use on a mechanical mod. Using pre-built coils on a regulated mod is basically plug and play and you don't need to know ohm's law to do it. I guess "ignore" wasn't the right word but I'm just saying that not all info here is applicable or needed. You don't need to be a programmer to use a laptop.

And a welcome to ECF too! Questions are good. Better to ask before than after. The 0.6 coil it comes with and up are fine. As Zipslack already pointed out, NO temp control requiring coils in that. Just because they fit doesn't mean they're meant for use with that setup.

BTW, that is a nice setup to start out with. I wish I had started with that.

That is extremely bad general advice and dangerously incorrect.

If your mod cannot magically increase the CDR of a cell. Thats why we use high drain cells in regulated mods.

To the OP:
The Joyetech ego AIO uses an internal battery and has protective electronics that prevent the use of coils that have resistance that will harm the battery.

None of the included coils will harm the device.

Ohms law is very important as it helps you understand exactly whats happening.

Know your gear.
Vape safe.

The comment above about Ohm's Law not being relevant, wish there was a dislike button, because even with the AIO it is still electricity, thus Ohm's Law "Does" apply. No you do not have to dive down into it, Joyetech designed all the physics and relevant technology placed into the device to handle all the variables those coils designed for it have.

Assuming 4.2v fresh charge output
4.2v/0.6ohms=7/90% Efficiency=7.7778amps
4.2v/0.5ohms=8.4/90%=9.3333amps
The nickel Ni200 coils, TC mode is an entirely different beast dealing with watts and reading resistance to formulate the temperature of the wire (as the wire heats up resistance increases).

Assuming 3.2 to 3.8v like the Ego Mega One does, capping at max 30watts
30watts/3.2v=9.375/90%=10.4167amps

As you can see they did all the math for you with Ohm's Law formulas, so you can run the 0.5 and 0.6ohm coils just fine, 0.6 will be gentler on the device, the 1 and 1.5ohm even more so, at 10amp output Lithium Polymer batteries, the CDR will be designed above that for safety, you are plenty safe with the device.
