I am considering ordering a P18, but I have a couple of questions.

First the practical question - I have been having some trouble with sensitivity in my fingers lately. I have a chuck that I had been using for about a year, and I noticed that the little button was starting to cause me a great deal of pain and tingling in my fingertips, so I switched to an Omega that I have had for about a week. The Omega tends to make my thumb and the palm of my hand ache a bit. I thought about one of the touch sensitive mods, but I wouldn't be able to use them with gloves in the winter, so they are out. I am thinking of ordering a P18 and trying to sell the Omega but I am wondering about the button. I have one of Trog's original Screwdrivers, so I have used a mod with a bottom button before, but am wondering if the button requires a lot of pressure, or if it is a pretty light touch? I think the biggest problem with the Chuck is the small pointy button, as other small items like that are causing me problems lately as well.

My second question is cosmetic. I have have never been a huge fan of brass, or anything gold toned, but I am loving the look of the Precise with brass ends. I have an Xhaler and the brass caps and button are very ugly. They personify everything I hate about brass. The pictures of the precise look much better, more of a lighter gold tone and highly polished, rather than an ugly dull brassy tone. So my question for people who one a brass ended Precise is - how accurate are the pictures on the website? I think that the brass adds a certain flair in the pictures, but I am wondering how it looks in person.

Thanks!

my 16 came with a spring that is light IMO. you can buy the heavy one for $4 extra.
i added washers to make the button throw very short and I think its easier to press that way.
it doesn't matter how hard you press as long as the 4 pronged contact is making solid contact with the battery.

the brass comes shiny from super t.......but like all brass it will tarnish.
I own a super 6 with brass but it requires cleaning to keep it shiny....it will get dull if you don't clean it....and it will look ugly if you don't clean it imo.
I like the brass look too, but b/c it tarnishes quickly I went with stainless steel for my p16 and I never looked back.

Personally, I would go with stainless steel all the way around.
you won't have to clean it hardly ever if at all.

this precise line is outstanding.....you won't be disapointed.

Thanks for the info, it is good to know about the spring. I'm not sure what is up with my fingers lately, but I might have to check in with the doctor if things don't normalize soon.

I'm probably going to go with the brass, even though it is a bit more high maintenance. It looks like if it turns out to be too big of a PiTA I can always order SS replacements for them at a later date.

Thanks again for the info!

The button has an easy activation and i recommend using your ring finger to activate it, not the pinky. I would error on the side of caution and purchase the Stianless steel first and then add the brass later if you decide you want it. Brass is very maintenance intensive and i think you will be much happier in the short and long run by starting out with the Stainless steel:)
