I thought the grey icky in the bag was snake oil. Gave Gypsy her first bath and noticed decreased performance. Dry burned an re wicked her. Well, same issue. Is Gypsy your atty or mod?

it's normal to dry burn the coil in an atty before rewicking it and to file and noalox the firing pin in a metal Reo - remember to file it - just wiping it with toothpicks is no use.

Well I bought a life time supply of Noalox. (four ounce bottle) With the coming SO kit Noalox will be a thing of the past. I have for a few months been putting a dab of it on the battery top every time I change batteries. I've never had any issues and I haven't filed the firing pin since I started doing this.

Everything needs cleaning now and then - i doubt sub-ohm kit means 'never clean the Reo again'. Less often would be good.

Yeap this, and little noalox at bath time will help keep it in tip top shape. The new contacts will oxidize just very slowly.

Coming from Rob, it wouldn't be snake oil. It would be porcupine oil, only because it clings better to the firing pin than the plain porcupine dust.

I guess we ought to be happy he doesn't feed families of skunks.

I have 2oz bottle of noalox and to be honest in 2 years time, I can't even tell I have used any cuz it takes such a small amount but makes a huge difference. Don't forget to file your firing pin after the bath and before the noalax!

Great post! I don't know why half of us have such denial about when we need noalox. I go through phases where I will blame everything from batteries to the weather, and it's always an oxidation issue.
