Canada is so weird. They're good at ice hockey they like beer. They seem to have solved the gun crisis by.... not doing too much of anything and while their healthcare system is not perfect it sort of does better than most.
If I lived in the cold with a country deeply divided and with two LANGUAGES even I would be IN A BAD MOOD FOREVER. But Canadians are like UNIVERSALLY polite.

You forgot putting beef gravy on French fries. That’s the one that gets me. I’d do it for the health care though even if it damaged said heath care. (Which it undoubtably does)
As for the niceness living in Minnesota which has more or less the same attitude and climate as Canada, my theory is it’s the cold. Other people are potential heat sources. Don’t mess with that which might save your fingers or jump start your car someday. There’s a bigger enemy than other people and it’s currently dumping 18 inches of annoyance on your driveway.
